Describe the path of an electrical impulse as it moves through a neuron. You must use the words axon

Answer:

The nerve impulse is not transmitted with the same speed in all neurons. It depends on whether or not the axon is surrounded by cells, the Schwann cells, which produces a white substance, the myelin sheath, which prevents the passage of the nerve impulse and causes you to "jump" between the spaces without the sheath of Myelin (Ranvier nodules), so the speed will be higher.

This type of nerve impulse spread is called "saltatory conduction or spread."

Explanation:

Neurons are cells that have the ability to transmit the nerve impulse in the form of an electric current. The nerve impulse only spreads in one direction. When a neuron is stimulated, electrical changes originate that begin in the dendrites, pass through the neuronal body, and end in the axon.

Neurons can also be classified according to whether or not they have myelin:

- Myelinic neurons Its axons are thicker and the nerve impulse spreads more quickly thanks to the saltatory conduction.

- Unmyelinated neurons They grow myelin, so they drive the nerve impulse more slowly.

The nerve impulse is transmitted along a neuron through a depolarization process:

- Initially, the membrane is polarized. On the outside of the membrane, ions with positive charge abound and on the inside, those with negative charge. This is maintained by the action of the sodium-potassium pump and is called the resting potential.

- When a stimulus arrives, the permeability increases for the sodium ions, which enter the cell, so that the polarity is reversed at that point, leaving more positive charge inside in that area. This alteration is called action potential.

- This depolarization leads to the redistribution of the ions, the nearby sodium channels open, and the adjacent area is also depolarized, and this, in turn, to that of the area that follows, as if they were the dominoes . In this way the nerve impulse travels like a wave along the axon.

- Once the nerve impulse has traveled the entire axon, in thousandths of a second, repolarization or restoration of the ion concentrations characteristic of the resting state occurs.

A 2.0-cm length of wire centered on the origin carries a 20-A current directed in the positive y direction. Determine the magnet
kati45 [8]

Answer: field strength = 8x10^-8T

Explanation:

At a distance r from a long current carrying conductor of current I,

B = uL/2¶r

Where u = 4¶x10^-7 H/m = permeability of free space.

r = 5m

I = 20A

B = (4¶x10^-7 x 20)/2¶x5

B = 8x10^-8T

A mass 1kg has kinetic energy 100J and it is thrown vertically upward. What is the
rjkz [21]

Answer:

Explanation:

There are a couple of different ways in which you can solve this and still get the same answer rounded. Since we are talking about KE, I will show you the way that utilizes KE and PE to get the total energy and then figure from that how high the object can go. First off, I'm going to use a mass of 1.0 kg for 2 significant digits. The total energy of a system is found in the equation

TE = PE + KE that says the total energy available to a system is equal to its kinetic energy plus its potential energy. Right off, we are given the KE value of 100 (Even though it's not accurate, I'm going to say that that number has 3 sig fig's, just because rounding to 1 sig fig is counterproductive). If the KE is 100, then

TE = 100 + 0 (the PE is 0 if the object is not moving, which it's not if someone is holding it and then throws it upwards). That's the total amount of energy available to that system and it cannot go up and it cannot go down, it can only change form. If the TE = 100, then we move on to the second part of the problemwhich is finding out how high i can go. The max height of the object indicates that the KE is 0 (the object at its max height isn't moving, even though it's only not moving for a nanosecond. If the object is not moving AND it's at its highest point, KE is 0 and PE is at a max).  That means that at this max height,

TE = 0 + PE and filling in the value for TE:

100 = PE and PE = mgh where m is mass, g is the pull of gravity, and h is the height (our unknown).

100 = (1.0)(9.8)(h) and

h=\frac{100}{9.8} so, to 2 sig fig's,

h = 1.0 × 10¹ meters (or 10 meters)
