The settling rate of particulates in air is directly proportional to the square of their diameters (Stokes’ Law), provided that

their densities are equal. If emitted particulates with a specific diameter are found to settle out after two days, how long would it take particulates of the same material with half the diameter to settle out if emitted from the same tall chimney?

Answer:

It will take 12 hours to settle out same particulate with half the diameter from same chimney.

Explanation:

The settling rate of particulates = S

Diameter of the particulate = d

S\propto d^2

The settling rate of one type of particulates = S_1

Diameter of the one type of particulate = d_1

The settling rate of other type of particulates = S_2

Diameter of the other type of particulate = d_2=0.5d_1

\frac{S_1}{(d_1)^2}=\frac{S_2}{(d_2)^2}

\frac{S_1}{(d_1)^2}=\frac{S_2}{(0.5d_1)^2}

S_1=4S_2

S_2=\frac{S_1}{4}

Given that settling of one type of particulate from chimney is 2 days.So settling of other type of particulate from  same chimney:

S_2=\frac{2 days}{4}=0.5 days

1 day = 24 hours

0.5 days = 0.5 × 24 hours = 12 hours

It will take 12 hours to settle out same particulate with half the diameter from same chimney.

Calculate the value deltaG°
atroni [7]

Answer:

ΔG=ΔG0+RTlnQ where Q is the ratio of concentrations (or activities) of the products divided by the reactants. Under standard conditions Q=1 and ΔG=ΔG0 . Under equilibrium conditions, Q=K and ΔG=0 so ΔG0=−RTlnK . Then calculate the ΔH and ΔS for the reaction and the rest of the procedure is unchanged.

How much power is used if a force of 54 newtons is used to pull a wagon a distance of 10 meters in 6 seconds? 3,240 W 90 W 32.4
timama [110]
Power is defined in a mathematical expression as P = F x v where F is in N and v is in m/s. From the given equation, the v = d/t which is v = 10/ 6, then substituting the answer to the power formula W = 54 N (10/6 m/s) = 90 Watts.

Answer:

Carbon dioxide is moving out of the living things.

Explanation:

The food materials eaten by living things contain carbon in the form of complex organic matter. When living things feed, they ingest this complex organic material into their bodies.

During the process of digestion, this complex organic material is broken down to give glucose. Glucose is the energy molecule in living things. Excess glucose in the body is stored as glycogen.

During cellular respiration, glucose is broken down to release carbon dioxide. Hence, at night when the giraffe has stopped eating, cellular respiration continues to occur and carbon dioxide is released, that is, carbon dioxide continues to move out of living things at night.
