Elaborate on the reason(s) that matter is said to move even as in a solid state. A) The particles are bound through intermolecul

ar forces but are able to move past each other with relative freedom. B) The particles have sufficient energy to become an ionized gas and are in the most common state of matter in the universe. C) The particles are not able to move out of their positions relative to one another, but do have small vibrational movements. D) The particles are not bound to one another, move quickly, have a low density, and are able to spread apart from one another if unconstrained.

Answer: Option (C) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

  • In a solid substance, molecules are held together by strong intermolecular forces of attraction. As a result, they are unable to move from their initial place but they can vibrate at their mean position.

Hence, in solid substances the molecules have low kinetic energy.

  • Whereas in a liquid substance, the molecules are held by less strong intermolecular forces of attraction as compared to solids. Due to which they are able to slide past each other. Hence, they have medium kinetic energy.
  • In a gaseous substance, the molecules are held by weak Vander waal forces. Hence, they have high kinetic energy due to which they move rapidly from one place to another leading to more number of collisions.

Hence, gases are able to expand more rapidly as compared to liquids.

Thus, we can conclude that particles are not able to move out of their positions relative to one another, but do have small vibrational movements is the reason that matter is said to move even as in a solid state.

1. The answer is option E, that is None of the above is correct.

As a polymer becomes more crystalline,

its melting point doesn't decreases, its density doesn't decreases, its stiffness doesn't decreases and its yield stress doesn't decreases.

2. The answer is option B, that is the molecules are arranged in sheets, with their long axes parallel and their ends aligned as well.

In the smectic A liquid-crystalline phase, molecules are arranged in sheets, with their long axes parallel and their ends aligned as well.

3.  For a substitutional alloy to form, the two metals combined must have similar atomic radii and chemical bonding properties.

Answer:

91%

Explanation:

Since you are just trying to find the yield, take the moles of the substance from the products and divide it by the mol value of the reactants. Multiply by 100 to find percentage

0.45 ÷ 0.41 = 0.91111...
