High-pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) is a method used in chemistry and biochemistry to purify chemical substances. The pre

ssures used in this procedure range from around 500 kilopascals (500,000 Pa ) to about 60,000 kPa (60,000,000 Pa ). It is often convenient to know the pressure in torr. If an HPLC procedure is running at a pressure of 2.70×108 Pa , what is its running pressure in torr? Express the pressure numerically in torr.

Answer: 0.02\times 10^8torr

Explanation:

Pressure of the gas is defined as the force exerted by the particles on the walls of the container. It is expressed in various terms like 'mmHg', 'atm', Pascals , torr etc

All these units of pressure are inter convertible.

We are given:

Pressure of the gas = 2.70\times 10^8Pa

Converting this unit of pressure into torr by using conversion factor:

1Pa=0.0075torr

2.70\times 10^8Pa=\frac{0.0075}{1}\times 2.70\times 10^8Pa=0.02\times 10^8torr

Thus the pressure in torr is 0.02\times 10^8

We have to convert running pressure in an HPLC procedure from Pascal unit to Torr.

The answer is: 2.025 X 10⁶ torr.

Both of Pascal and Torr are units of pressure. We know, 1 Pascal is equal to 0.0075 torr.

Hence, 2.70 X 10⁸ Pascal is equal to 0.0075 X 2.70 X 10⁸ torr= 0.02025 X 10⁸ torr= 2.025 X 10⁶ torr.

GaryK [48]
Spinach and broccoli are high in Iron. The respiratory system needs constant supplies of iron to maintain healthy blood cells. Not having enough Iron can lead to low numbers of red blood cells, without red blood cells not enough blood will flow to organs, causing iron deficient anemia.

If 27.50 mL of 0.120 M NaOH neutralizes 0.248 g of HAA, what is the molar mass of unknown amino acid
tino4ka555 [31]

Answer:

75.15 g/mol

Explanation:

First, let us look at the equation of reaction;

NaOH + HAA --> NaAA + H_2O

From the balanced equation of reaction, 1 mole of NaOH is required to completely neutralize 1 mole of HAA.

Recall that: mole = molarity x volume.

Therefore, 27.50 mL, 0.120 M NaOH = 0.0275 x 0.120 = 0.0033 moles

0.0033 mole of NaOH will therefore requires 0.0033 moles of HAA for complete neutralization.

In order to find the molar mass of the unknown amino acid, recall that:

mole = mass/molar mass, hence, molar mass = mass/mole.

Therefore, molar mass of HAA = 0.248/0.0033 = 75.15 g/mol

How do chemical weathering and the formation of biochemical sediment remove carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the geosp
Sav [38]
The chemical weathering process of carbonation removes carbon from the atmosphere. In this process, carbon dioxide in the atmosphere mixes with rainfall to form carbonic acid. This acid then reacts with calcium carbonate or limestone to form calcium bicarbonate. This reaction removes carbon from the atmosphere. Organisms such as corals can remove dissolved carbon from oceans to form their hard rocky structures. Carbon dioxide from the atmosphere is dissolved in ocean water. Overtime they become limestone rock.
