A balanced equation is an equation in which the number of atoms of all the molecules is equal on both sides of the equation is known as a balanced chemical equation. Law of conservation of mass governs the balancing of a chemical equation.

The way you can tell if an equation is unbalanced is by looking at the number of atoms in each formula on each side

Ex: Cu + Cl -> CuCl2 = unbalanced
Cu + 2Cl -> CuCl2 = balanced

A rigid cylinder with a movable piston contains a sample of helium gas. The temperature of the gas is held
Varvara68 [4.7K]
Assuming ideal gas, we can label this system to follow the Boyle's Law. This Law can be applied to systems held at constant temperature. The formula used is: PV=k, where k is a constant. From the formula, P and V are inversely proprotional. So, if you graph P vs V, the graph would start from the top, then curves down towards the right.

Which compounds, on heating with an excess of concentrated sulfuric acid, produce only one product with molecular formula C7H10?
podryga [215]

Answer:

1 and 2

Explanation:

When Concentrated H2SO4 reacted with the alcohols, they produce cycloalkenes. This is a mechanism known as dehydration of alcohols with an acid catalyst. This is because concentrated H2SO4 acts as a great oxidizing agent. In the process, the alcohols are heated to a high temperature with an excess of pure sulfuric acid. By passing the gases through a sodium hydroxide solution, the carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide produced by reactive species are eliminated. The reaction mechanism shown in the image below indicates that only compounds 1 and 2 produce only one product.

Consider the following reaction: 2 Bi(s) + 3 Cl2(g) → 2 BiCl3(s)
Mandarinka [93]

Taking into account the reaction stoichiometry, 1.119 grams of chlorine gas are required to produce 3.32 grams of bismuth chloride is produced.

Reaction stoichiometry

In first place, the balanced reaction is:

2 Bi + 3 Cl₂ → 2 BiCl₃

By reaction stoichiometry (that is, the relationship between the amount of reagents and products in a chemical reaction), the following amounts of moles of each compound participate in the reaction:

 • Bi: 2 moles
 • Cl₂: 3 moles
 • BiCl₃: 2 moles

The molar mass of the compounds is:

 • Bi: 209 g/mole
 • Cl₂: 70.90 g/mole
 • BiCl₃: 315.45 g/mole

Then, by reaction stoichiometry, the following mass quantities of each compound participate in the reaction:

Bi: 2 moles ×209 g/mole=418 g

Cl₂: 3 moles ×70.90 g/mole= 212.7 g

BiCl₃: 2 moles ×315.45 g/mole= 630.9 g

Mass of Cl₂ required

The following rule of three can be applied: If by reaction stoichiometry 630.9 grams of BiCl₃ are formed by 212.7 grams of Cl₂, 3.32 grams of BiCl₃ are formed by how much mass of Cl₂?

mass of Cl_{2} =\frac{3.32 grams of BiCl_{3}x212.7 grams of Cl_{2} }{630.9 grams of BiCl_{3}}

mass of Cl₂= 1.119 grams

Finally, 1.119 grams of chlorine gas are required to produce 3.32 grams of bismuth chloride is produced.
