1.Simplify.

-2{x}^{2}-4x+13+12{x}^{2}+2x-25−2x2−4x+13+12x2+2x−25

2.Collect like terms.

(-2{x}^{2}+12{x}^{2})+(-4x+2x)+(13-25)(−2x2+12x2)+(−4x+2x)+(13−25)

3.Simplify.

10{x}^{2}-2x-1210x2−2x−12

Write each compound inequality as an absolute value inequality 1.3
kakasveta [241]
Consider an absolute value inequality.

For example, 3≤|x-7|

this means that x-7 can be

i) 3,    3.4,    5,    7.5       etc

or   ii) -3,    -3.2,     -4.7    etc since these values in abs value all are ≥3

thus  the set of all values in i) is represented by x-7≥3, which means x≥10

and the set of all values in ii) is  x-7≤-3, which means x≤4.

Thus, the compound inequality is : x≥10  OR x≤4

an absolute inequality corresponding to this compound inequality is 3≤|x-7|

a box of rice cakes costs $1.95. What is the greatest number of boxes of rice cakes Jared can buy with $10?
zhannawk [14.2K]
The greatest number of boxes of rice cakes would be 5, because when you take $10 and divide it by how much every box would cost it would be 5.13. However, boxes are sold in wholes and you must round down to get the greatest whole number of boxes he can get, which would be 5 boxes of rice cakes.

Compute the total cost of the meal to the nearest cent: meal costs $24.62 plus 6% tax and 15% tip.
matrenka [14]

The total cost of the meal is $30.02

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Cost of meal = $24.62

Tax = 6%

Tax amount = 6% of cost of meal

Tax\ amount=\frac{6}{100}*24.62\\Tax\ amount=\frac{147.72}{100}\\Tax\ amount=\$1.48

Cost after sales tax = 24.62+1.48 = $26.10

Tip = 15%

Tip amount = 15% of cost after sales tax

Tip\ amount=\frac{15}{100}*26.10\\\\Tip\ amount=\frac{391.5}{100}\\Tip\ amount=\$3.92

Total cost of meal = Cost after sales tax + Tip amount

Total cost of meal = 26.10+3.92 = $30.02

The total cost of the meal is $30.02
