Answer:

9 cones

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula to find a volume of a cylinder is:

V1 = pi*r^2*h

Where r is the base radius and h is the height

The formula to find a volume of a cone is:

V2 = (1/3)*pi*r^2*h

So, if they have the same base radius and same height, we have that:

V1/V2 = 1/(1/3) = 3

The volume of the cylinder is 3 times bigger than the volume of the cone, so each cylinder of water can fill 3 cones.

Is Dennis has 3 cylinders, he is able to fill 3*3 = 9 cones with water.

Answer:

3 cylinder will fill 9 cones with water

Step-by-step explanation:

This problem bothers on mensuration of slides, cone and cylinder

We know that the

Volume of a cylinder = πr²h

Volume of a cone = 1/3(πr²h)

Given that both cylinder and cone has same height and radius

From the given expression we can deduce that the cone is 3 times smaller than the cylinder in volume

So if 1 cylinder will fill 3 cones

Then 3 cylinders will fill x cones

By cross multiplication we have

x= 3*3cones

x= 9 cones

Hence 3 cylinder will fill 9 cones with water

If there are parentheses you add the exponent on the outside to the exponents inside that belong to a variable.

For the three you would just cube it regularly, but for the x you would add the 3 to the 2 that is already on the x

The circle shown has center o and radius 4. what is the area of the shaded region?
Vlad [161]

The ratio of his savings: expenses = 7: 5

So, total of the ratio is = 7 +5 =12

His savings will be 7/12* allowance

His expenses will be 5/12 * allowance

We know that the allowance that he gets is $3

His savings = 7/12 * allowances

His savings = 7/12 * 3

His savings = $7/4 or 1 ¾

Now, we convert the 7/4 (or 1 ¾) into a decimal.

1 ¾ when converted is decimal is 1.75

His Savings = $1.75

Brilliant_brown [7]

Answer:

$8,500 in CDs; $11,500 in bonds

Step-by-step explanation:

Let c = amount invested in CDs.

Let b = amount invested in bonds.

"A total of $20,000 is to be invested, some in bonds and some in certificates of deposit (CDs)."

From the total investment, we get this equation.

c + b = 20000

"If the amount invested in bonds is to exceed that in CDs by $3000"

From the details of the amounts, we get this equation.

b = c + 3000

We have a system of equations in two unknowns.

c + b = 20000  Eq. 1

b = c + 3000  Eq. 2

Since Eq. 2 is already solved for b, we will use the substitution method to solve the system of equations.

Substitute b in Eq. 1 with c + 3000.

c + c + 3000 = 20000

2c + 3000 = 20000

2c = 17000

c = 8500

Now substitute c = 8500 in Eq. 2 and solve for b.

b = c + 3000

b = 8500 + 3000

b = 11500

Answer: $8,500 in CDs; $11,500 in bonds
