Solve x by simplifying both sides of the equation, then isolating the variable.

Answer:

x= - 31/2

<span> (-8x-58)= (-2x+35)
add 58 to each side
</span><span> (-8x)= (-2x+93)
add 2x to each side
</span> (-6x)= (93)
Then divide each side by 6
-x=15.5
multiply by -1 to get positive x
x=(-15.5)
