Answer :

(a) The answer will be \Rightarrow 562

(b) The answer will be \Rightarrow 2.0

(c) The answer will be \Rightarrow 49.32

Explanation :

Significant figures : The figures in a number which express the value -the magnitude of a quantity to a specific degree of accuracy is known as significant digits.

The rule apply for the multiplication and division is :

The least number of significant figures in any number of the problem determines the number of significant figures in the answer.

The rule apply for the addition and subtraction is :

The least precise number present after the decimal point determines the number of significant figures in the answer.

(a) The sum of the measured values 521, 31.4, 0.85, and 9.0

521+31.4+0.85+9.0

\Rightarrow 562.25

In the given expression, 521 has 3 significant figures, 31.4 has 3 significant figures, 0.85 has 2 significant figures and 9.0 has 2 significant figures. From this we conclude that least precise number present after the decimal point is 0.

Thus, the answer will be \Rightarrow 562

(b) The product 0.0052 × 386.2

(0.0052)\times (386.2)

\Rightarrow 2.00824

In the given expression, 0.0052 has 2 significant figures and 386.2 has 4 significant figures. From this we conclude that 2 is the least significant figures in this problem. So, the answer should be in 2 significant figures.

Thus, the answer will be \Rightarrow 2.0

(c) The product 15.70\times \pi

The value of \pi = 3.141414 = 3.\bar {14}

\pi is an irrational number.

(15.70)\times (3.1414)

\Rightarrow 49.31998

In the given expression, 15.70 has 4 significant figures and 3.\bar {14} has infinite significant figures. From this we conclude that 4 is the least significant figures in this problem. So, the answer should be in 4 significant figures.

Thus, the answer will be \Rightarrow 49.32

When x-ray radiation and infrared radiation are
lys-0071 [83]

The correct answer is

(1) speed

In fact, the speed of an electromagnetic wave does not depend on the type of wave, but only on the medium: since both the waves are travelling in vacuum (same medium), they are travelling at same speed, which corresponds to the speed of light in vacuum:

c=3.0 \cdot 10^8 m/s

Physical sciences grade 11 prescribed experiment 1
Digiron [165]

Answer:

Newton's second law of motion describes the relationship between force and acceleration. They are directly proportional. If you increase the force applied to an object, the acceleration of that object increases by the same factor. In short, force equals mass times acceleration.

loris [4]

Answer:

Part a)

T = 342.5 \hat i + 675\hat j

Part b)

F_{net} = 342.5\hat i - 174\hat j

Part c)

F = 384.2 N

Part d)

\theta = 333 degree

Part e)

a = 4.4 m/s^2

Part f)

\theta = 333 degree

Explanation:

Part a)

Magnitude of tension force is given as

T = 757 N at 26.9 degree with vertical

T = 757 sin26.9 \hat i + 757 cos26.9 \hat j

T = 342.5 \hat i + 675\hat j

Part b)

Net force on Tarzen is given as

F_{net} = T + F_g

F_{net} = 342.5 \hat i + 675\hat j - 849 \hat j

F_{net} = 342.5\hat i - 174\hat j

Part c)

magnitude of the force is given as

F = \sqrt{F_x^2 + F_y^2}

F = \sqrt{342.5^2 + 174^2}

F = 384.2 N

Part d)

Direction of the force is given as

tan\theta = \frac{F_y}{F_x}

tan\theta = \frac{-174}{342.5}

\theta = 333 degree

Part e)

Magnitude of the acceleration

a = \frac{F}{m}

m = \frac{849}{9.81} = 86.5 kg

tex]a = \frac{384.2}{86.5}[/tex]

a = 4.4 m/s^2

Part f)

Direction of acceleration is same as the direction of the force

\theta = 333 degree
