A metal wheel 50 cm in radius rotates on a desk anti-clockwise at a constant rate of 800 rev/min about its central axis. Determi

ne (a) its angular velocity (not speed!!!),
(b) its linear speed at a point 30 cm from its center of rotation,
(c) the radial acceleration of a point on the rim, and
(d) the total distance a point on the rim moves in 120 seconds.
Note: You must draw a diagram and pick appropriate axes to aid your calculation.
Write down the detail process.

Answer:

(a) 83.73 rad/s

(b) 251.2 m/s

(c) 3505.4 rad/s^2

(d) 5024 m

Explanation:

R = 50 cm = 0.5 m, f = 800 rpm = 800 / 60 rps

(a) Angular velocity, w = 2 x 3.14 x f = 2 x 3.14 x 800 / 60 = 83.73 rad / s

(b) The relation between linear speed and the angular speed is

V = r w

Here, r = 30 cm = 0.3 m

V = 0.3 x 83.73 = 25.12 m/s

(c) Radial acceleration = R w^2 = 0.5 x 83.73 x 83.73 = 3505.4 rad/s^2

(d) Time period T = 2 x 3.14 / w

T = 2 x 3.14 / 83.73 = 0.075 sec

In 0.075 second, angle turn = 360 degree

In 120 second, the angle turn = 360 x 120 / 0.075 = 576000 degree

In 360 degree, the distance traveled = 2 x pi x R

In 576000 degree, the distance traveled = 2 x 3.14 x 0.5 x 576000 / 360

                                                                     = 5024 m

A metal block has a density of 5000 kg per cubic meter and a mass of 15,000 kg. What is its volume?
Naily [24]

Taking into account the definition of density, the volume of the metal block is 3 m³.

<h3>What is density</h3>

Density is defined as the property that matter, whether solid, liquid or gas, has to compress into a given space.

In other words, density is a quantity that allows us to measure the amount of mass in a certain volume of a substance.

Then, the expression for the calculation of density is the quotient between the mass of a body and the volume it occupies:

density=\frac{mass}{volume}

From this expression it can be deduced that density is inversely proportional to volume: the smaller the volume occupied by a given mass, the higher the density.

<h3>Volume of the metal block</h3>

In this case, you know that:

  • Density= 5000 \frac{kg}{m^{3} }
  • Mass= 15000 kg
  • Volume= ?

Replacing in the definition of density:

5000 \frac{kg}{m^{3} } =\frac{15000 kg}{volume}

Solving:

volume×5000 \frac{kg}{m^{3} }= 15000 kg

volume= \frac{15000 kg}{5000 \frac{kg}{m^{3} }}

<u><em>volume= 3 m³</em></u>

In summary, the volume of the metal block is 3 m³.

A 7.8 µF capacitor is charged by a 9.00 V battery through a resistance R. The capacitor reaches a potential difference of 4.20 V
Vaselesa [24]

Answer:

655128 ohm

Explanation:

C = Capacitance of the capacitor = 7.8 x 10⁻⁶ F

V₀ = Voltage of the battery = 9 Volts

V = Potential difference across the battery after time "t" = 4.20 Volts

t = time interval = 3.21 sec

T = Time constant

R = resistance

Potential difference across the battery after time "t" is given as

V = V_{o} (1-e^{\frac{-t}{T}})

4.20 = 9 (1-e^{\frac{-3.21}{T}})

T = 5.11 sec

Time constant is given as

T = RC

5.11 = (7.8 x 10⁻⁶) R

R = 655128 ohm

An object has a mass of 120 kg on the moon. What is the force of gravity acting on the object on the moon? A. 12.24 N B. 196 N C
Lady_Fox [76]
Correct answer: B
The force of gravity acting on the object on the moon can be found by multiplying its mass by the acceleration due to gravity on the moon. The acceleration due to gravity on the moon is a constant and is approximately 1.63m/s².
120kg×1.63m/s²=195.6kg.m/s²
kg.m/s²=N
<span>The force of gravity acting on the object on the moon would be of approximately 196N.</span>
