Cells do need food. In a process known as cellular respiration, cells convert biochemical energy (oxygen as food) from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and then release waste products.

Why is salt not allowed to pass through the cell membrane?

Salt molecules are much smaller than starch molecules and can pass through more easily. ... Thus, they are quite large molecules in contrast to the relatively small salt molecules. The smaller salt molecules pass through the membrane easily, but the larger starch molecules cannot pass through the membrane.

The integumentary system is the skin. Skin protects the inner organs from Bactria. Essentially the skin is a wall protecting against the outside world. It doesn't really release anything but is just there for protection.

The answer is that his blood pressure could increase. 

It is known that one of the functions of the kidney is to control blood volume. But, when one kidney is removed, the other one that remained must work for the both. So, the one remained kidney will try to control increased blood pressure, but if the one is not kidney is not enough, it could lead to increase of the blood pressure of the patient.
