The seasonal output of a new experimental strain of pepper plants was carefully weighed. The mean weight per plant is 15.0 pound

s, and the standard deviation of the normally distributed weights is 1.75 pounds. Of the 200 plants in the experiment, how many produced peppers weighing between 13 and 16 pounds

Answer:

There are 118 plants that weight between 13 and 16 pounds

Step-by-step explanation:

For any normal random variable X with mean μ and standard deviation σ : X ~ Normal(μ, σ)

This can be translated into standard normal units by :

Z = \frac{(X - \mu)}{\sigma}

Let X be the weight of the plant

X ~ Normal( 15 , 1.75 )

To find : P( 13 < X < 16 )

= P(\frac{( 13 - 15 )}{1.75} < Z < \frac{( 16 - 15 )}{1.75})

= P( -1.142857 < Z < 0.5714286 )

= P( Z < 0.5714286 ) - P( Z < -1.142857 )

= 0.7161454 - 0.1265490

= 0.5895965

So, the probability that any one of the plants weights between 13 and 16 pounds is 0.5895965

Hence, The expected number of plants out of 200 that will weight between 13 and 16 = 0.5895965 × 200

                                            = 117.9193

Therefore, There are 118 plants that weight between 13 and 16 pounds.

The following graph shows the distance Thomas is from his home (in meters) for a period of 2 minutes. Determine the average rate
irga5000 [103]
The answer:
the average rate of change for the first 50 seconds:
it  is v= 100 m/ 50 s = 2 m/s
Thomas speed is 2 m in each second for the first 50 seconds.

The average rate of change for the 70 remaining seconds:
the time is between [70; 120]
so the distance is d= 200m - 40m= 160m
the average rate is
v= 160m / 70 s = 2 . 28m /s

Your school committee is planning an after school trip by 193 people to a competition at another school. There are 8 drivers ava
Lorico [155]
B = no. of buses
v = no. of vans

b + v less than or equal to 8 ( there are only 8 drivers, but don't have to use them all)

51b + 8v greater than or equal to 193 (the number of seats must be at least 193 but there can be spares)

So these are the inequalities to solve. I did start doing a linear programming graph but the second inequality is horrible so I hope you don't need to actually solve them.
