The principal role of pulmonary vein is to transport oxygen filled blood to heart’s left atrium from the lungs.

Explanation:

In human body the function of veins is to transfer blood to heart. However, pulmonary vein is a bit exceptional from other veins of our body. Pulmonary vein primarily carries oxygen filled blood to the left atrium of human heart from our lungs, whereas, other veins transports deoxygenated blood to the heart. The two pulmonary veins in the right are- superior and inferior right veins that transport blood from the right sided lungs.
