Let the height of the triangle be h and the base be b.

Given that h+b=26 and the area of the triangle is A=\frac{bh}{2}. Or

A(h)=\frac{(26-h)h}{2}.

When the area is maximum, \frac{dA}{dh} =0.

or,

\frac{d\frac{(26-h)h}{2} }{dh} =0.

\frac{d(26-h)h }{dh} =0

2h-26=0

h=13

The dimensions of the triangle with maximum area is

h=13 cm, b=13 cm

netineya [11]

Answer:

The answer to your question is 13 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

In the question is not mentioned the distance that Jose one during the afternoon, it is only mentioned that he ran faster than in the morning so we can imply that the distance was the same in both occasions, just he ran faster in the afternoon because there was no rain.

Hatshy [7]

Answer:

\boxed{ \text{B. 10 weeks, \$310 }}\\

Step-by-step explanation:

We have two conditions:

\begin{array}{lrcll}(1) & y & = & 25x + 60 & \\(2) & y & = & 30x + 10 & \\ & 25x + 60 & = & 30 x + 10 & \text {Set (1) = (2)} \\ & 50 & = & 5x & \text{Subtracted 25x from each side} \\& x & = & 10 &\text{Divided each side by 5} \\\end{array}\\$ $\\\boxed{ \textbf{The number of weeks is }x = 10}\\

    Bella: y = 25x + 60 = 25(10) + 60 = 250 + 60 = 310

Heather: y = 30x + 10  = 30(10) +  10 = 300 + 10  = 310
