Why are the oxygen cycle and the carbon cycle typically combined together into one cycle?

Biology

Solution:

The series of processes by which carbon compounds are interconverted in the environment, involving the incorporation of carbon dioxide into living tissue by photosynthesis and its return to the atmosphere through respiration, the decay of dead organisms, and the burning of fossil fuels. And the oxygen cycle is a biogeochemical cycle that describes the movement of oxygen within the earth's three main reservoirs which are the atmosphere (air), the hydrosphere (water), and the lithosphere (land).

Both mix in one cycle because of these:

The C2 oxidative photosynthetic carbon cycle plus the C3 reductive photosynthetic carbon cycle coexist. Both are initiated by Rubisco, use about equal amounts of energy, must regenerate RuBP, and result in exchanges of CO2 and O2 to establish rates of net photosynthesis, CO2 and O2 compensation points, and the ratio of CO2 and O2 in the atmosphere. These concepts evolved from research on O2 inhibition, glycolate metabolism, leaf peroxisomes, photorespiration, 18O2/ 16O2 exchange,CO2 concentrating processes, and a requirement for the oxygenase activity of Rubisco .

Answer the 3 questions (this question isn’t biology, it’s earth science but there’s no category for that)
Anastasy [175]

Answer: 1) jet streams are like rivers of wind high above in the atmosphere. these slim strips of strong winds have a huge influence on climate as they can push air masses around and affect weather patterns-- they form a bond between hot and cold air

2) lifting along fronts: when air masses interact. lifting also occurs along frontal boundaries as air masses of different temperature and moisture content interact with each other. the lifted air cools and the water vapor condences to form clouds in advance of the surface warm front

3) when the temperature difference between the cold and warm is large, thunderstorms and even tornadoes may form. thunderstorms can form at a cold front or within air masses. at a cold front, air can be forced upard quckly. within an air mass, uneven heating can produce convection and thunderstorms

Explain in your own words, why an avocado fruit has a higher biotic potential than a tangerine fruit.
ale4655 [162]

Explanation:

Each avocado fruit contains one large seed. Each tangerine fruit contains a dozen seeds or more. Because the tan- gerine tree produces more seeds per fruit, it has a higher biotic potential than the avocado tree.

The first step in testing whether a population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium is to calculate the allele frequencies in the po
Zepler [3.9K]

Answer:

Allele frequencies in the population is 0.6

Explanation:

The first step in testing whether a population is in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium is the frequency of an allele in a gene pool is the number of copies of that allele divided by the total number of copies of all alleles at that locus.

Part A: A scientist examines a fruit fly gene involved with the regulation of body development. A section of the DNA sequence fo
Leokris [45]

Answer:

Part A: Thr-Leu-Val

Part B: ACC-UUG-GUU

Explanation:

When you transcribe a DNA sequence to mRNA, you need to remember that in RNA there is no Thymine (T), instead it has Uracil (U). So the base pairings would be like this compared to DNA base pairing:

DNA                RNA

A-T                  A-U

T-A                  T-A

C-G                 G-C

G-C                 C-G

Given the sequence the transcription will be as follows:

DNA :   TGG - AAC - CAA

mRNA: ACC - UUG - GUU

Next, to translate it into amino acids, you will use the chart. Now amino acids pair in codons (3 base pairs at a time).  Let's take the first codon in your sequence:

ACC

1st  2nd   3rd

 A     C       C

Using the column on the left, find the row that matches it, so in this case A.

At the very top, there is another row of letters, looking at the row of A only, look for the column of the second base which is C.

Lastly, look at the right most column and find the letter that matches the third base within the box where A and C intersect. In this case, C is your third base.

The amino acid where all three intersect is your first amino acid which is Thr.

Just do this for the next codons and you will come up with the answer.

many prople try to eliminate fat from their diets. which is one reasom it is necessary for humans to eat fat
Ira Lisetskai [31]

Explanation:

Fats are very important classes of food needed by the body. Excess fat is not good for the body.

The following are the reasons fats are essential for the body;

  • They provide energy for the body too.
  • Fats are good insulators helping to keep the body warm.
  • They help the body absorb vitamins because some vitamins are only soluble in fats.
  • They help in growing of the cell.
