Answer:

7.12 meters.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let h represent height of the swing to the ground.

Please find the attachment.

We have been given that Howard is designing a chair swing ride. The swing ropes are 5 meters long, and in full swing they tilt in an angle of 29 degrees. Howard wants the chairs to be 2.75 meters above the ground in full swing. We are supposed to find the height of the pole of the swing ride.

First of all, we will find height of swing above the ground.

We know that cosine relates adjacent side of right triangle to hypotenuse.

\text{cos}=\frac{\text{Adjacent}}{\text{Hypotenuse}}

\text{cos}(29^{\circ})=\frac{h}{5}

\frac{h}{5}=\text{cos}(29^{\circ})

h=5\cdot \text{cos}(29^{\circ})

h=5\cdot (0.874619707139)

h=4.373098535695

h\approx 4.37

The height of the pole of the swing ride would be h plus 2.75 that is 4.37+2.75=7.12.

Therefore, the pole of the swing ride should be 7.12 meters tall.

What is the area of this composite figure?
Mkey [24]

We have two congruent trapezoids.

The formula of an area of a trapezoid:

A=\dfrac{base_1+base_2}{2}\cdot\ height

We have:

base_1=210\ mm\\\\base_2=150\ mm\\\\height=55\ mm

Substitute:

A=\dfrac{210+150}{2}\cdot55=\dfrac{360}{2}\cdot55=180\cdot55=9,900\ mm^2

Answer:

2A=2\cdot9,900\ mm^2=19,800\ mm^2
