1 mol of any substance is made of 6.022 x 10²³ unita, these units could be atoms making up elements or molecules making up a compound.

1 mol of C₂H₆ is made of 6.022 x 10²³ molecules of C₂H₆

the relative molecular mass of C₂H₆ is - (2 x C) + (6 x H)

atomic mass of C = 12 g/mol , H = 1 g/mol

 = (2 x 12 g/mol ) = (6 x 1 g/mol ) = 24 + 6 = 30

therefore relative molecular mass of C₂H₆ is 30 g/mol

1 mol of C₂H₆ has a mass of 30 g

30 g of C₂H₆ is 1 mol

therefore 30 g of C₂H₆ is made of 6.022 x 10²³ molecules of ethane

then 0.197 g of C₂H₆ is made of - 6.022 x 10²³ / 30 x 0.197 = 3.95 x 10²¹ molecules of C₂H₆

answer is 3.95 x 10²¹ molecules of C₂H₆

Answer:

3.945 x 10²¹ molecules

Explanation:

 • Firstly, we need to calculate the no. of moles using the relation:
 • n = mass/molar mass = (0.197 g)/(30.07 g/mol) = 6.55 x 10⁻³ mol.
 • It is known that every 1.0 mol of a molecule contains Avogadro's number of molecules (NA = 6.022 x 10²³).
 • ∴ 0.197 g of C₂H₆ will contain = (6.55 x 10⁻³ mol)(6.022 x 10²³) = 3.945 x 10²¹ molecules.

When 6.0 mol Al react with 13 mol HCl, what is the limiting reactant, and how many moles of H2 can be formed?
Ad libitum [116K]

You're looking for the number of moles of H2, and you have 6.0 mol Al and 13 mol HCL.

For the first part, you have to make your way from 6.0 mol of Al to mol of H2, right? For that to happen, you need to make a conversion factor that will cancel the mol Al, in such case use the 2 moles of Al from your equation to cancel them out. At the top of the equation, you can use the number of moles of H2 from the equation and find the moles that will be produced for the H2.

6.0mol Al x 3 mol H2/2 mol Al = 9 mol H2

For the second part, you have to make the same procedure, make a conversion factor that will cancel the mol of HCL and for that you need to use the 6 mol HCL from your equation, and at the numerator you can put the 3 mol of H2 from the equation so that you can find the number of moles of H2 that will be produced.

13 mol HCL x 3 mol H2/6 mol HCL = 6.5 mol H2

As it can be seen, HCL produces the less amount of H2 moles. Therefore, the reaction CANNOT produce more than 6.5 mol H2, in that case 6.5 mol will be the maximum number of moles that will be produced at the end because HCL does not have enough to produce more than 6.5 mol.

In that case HCL is the limiting reactant because it limits that will be produced, and so the answer is B!

Heavy nuclides with too few neutrons to be in the band of stability are most likely to decay by what mode?
Margarita [4]

Answer:

Positron emission

Explanation:

Positron emission involves the conversion of a proton to a neutron. This process increases the mass number of the daughter nucleus by 1 while its atomic number remains the same. The new neutron increases the number of neutrons present in the daughter nucleus hence the process increases the N/P ratio.

A positron is usually ejected in the process together with an anti-neutrino to balance the spins.
