Everyman is a mortality play and is in fact, one of the best mortality plays in medieval times. The original play was actually written and performed in the Dutch language in the mid 15th century. Having done this, Confession give Everyman a scourge. As Everyman continues to scourge himself to achieve forgiveness, Good Deeds is suddenly able to get up and walk again.
