First, the rectangle:

We have the measurements of a length of 4, and width of 2. The area of a rectangle is Length times Width, therefore:
4x2=8 ft squared for the rectangle.

Now the Triangle:
We see that the whole left side is 4ft, and that the rectangle's width is 2ft; therefore, the left side of the triangle is 2 ft (4-2).
The area of a triangle is 1/2Base times Height. The base is 4, and the height is 2; therefore:
1/2x4x2=4 ft squared.

Now we add our areas for the total:

4+8=12 ft squared

I hope this Helps!

Which equation is the inverse of y = 16x2 + 1?
Llana [10]

Answer:

y=\frac{\sqrt{x-1} }{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equation is

y=16x^2+1

For this function to have an inverse, we must restrict the domain, say x\ge0

We interchange x and y to get,

x=16y^2+1

We now make y the subject to get;

x-1=16y^2

x-1=16y^2

We divide through by 16 to get;

\frac{x-1}{16}=y^2

We now take the square root of both sides to get;

\pm \sqrt{\frac{x-1}{16}}=y

y=\pm \frac{\sqrt{x-1} }{4}

Since  x\ge 0, the inverse function is

y=\frac{\sqrt{x-1} }{4}

rjkz [21]

Answer:

\mu = 14.5\\

\sigma = 5.071\\

k = 1.084

Step-by-step explanation:

given that a  statistician uses Chebyshev's Theorem to estimate that at least 15 % of a population lies between the values 9 and 20.

i.e. his findings with respect to probability are

P(9

Recall Chebyshev's inequality that

P(|X-\mu |\geq k\sigma )\leq {\frac {1}{k^{2}}}\\P(|X-\mu |\leq k\sigma )\geq 1-{\frac {1}{k^{2}}}\\

Comparing with the Ii equation which is appropriate here we find that

\mu =14.5

Next what we find is

k\sigma = 5.5\\1-\frac{1}{k^2} =0.15\\\frac{1}{k^2}=0.85\\k=1.084\\1.084 (\sigma) = 5.5\\\sigma = 5.071

Thus from the given information we find that

\mu = 14.5\\\sigma = 5.071\\k = 1.084
