25ml of liquid nitrogen (density = .807 g/ml) is poured into a cylindrical container with a radius of 10cm and a length of 20cm.

The container initially contains only air at a pressure of 760mmHg (atm pressure) and a temp of 298K. If the liquid N completely vaporizes, what is the total force (in lbs) on the interior of the container at 298K?

Answer:

16311 lbs

Explanation:

Volume of the cylinder = πr²l

                                       = π (10 cm)² x 20cm

                                        =3.14 x 100 x 20 cm³

                                         = 6283 cm³

                                          =6283 ml

                          6283 ml - 25 ml = 6258 ml

                                                       = 6.258 l     ( since 1 l = 1000 ml )

                    PV  = nRT

  n = \frac{PV}{RT}

P = 760 mm

V = 6.258 l

R = 0.082057 l. atm/mol.K

n=?

 n = \frac{PV}{RT}

     =  0.2559 mol/air

T = 298 K

mass of Nitrogen = 25ml

density = 0.807 g/ml

mol mass of nitrogen =28.0134 g/mol

 = (25ml x 0.807 g/ml) ÷  (28.0134 g/mol)

 = 0.72019 mol N₂

Total mol = 0.2559 +0.72019 = 0.9761 mol

P=( n ×R × T) ÷ V

V = 6.283l ; R = 0.082057 l ; T = 298K ;n = 0.9761

∴ P = 3.799 atm

F = P × SA ( Force = pressure × surface Area )

P = 3.799atm

SA  = 2πr² + 2πrl

       = 2π ( 0.0010m) + 2π (0.0010m) (0.020m)

       = 0.188496 m²

∴ Force F = 384934 × 0.1884

                 =  72558 N = 16311 lbs

Determine whether you can swim in 1.00 x 10^27 molecules of water.
zloy xaker [14]

Answer:

We can not swim in 1.00 × 10²⁷ molecules of water

Explanation:

The given number of molecules of water = 1.00 × 10²⁷ molecules

The Avogadro's number, N_A, gives the number of molecules in one mole of a substance

N_A ≈ 6.0221409 × 10²³ molecules/mol

Therefore

Therefore, we have;

The number of moles of water present in 1.00 × 10²⁷ molecules, n = (The number of molecules of water) ÷ N_A

∴ n = (1.00 × 10²⁷ molecules)/(6.0221409 × 10²³ molecules/mol) = 1,660.53902857 moles

The mass of one mole of water = The molar mass of water = 18.01528 g/mol

The mass, 'm', of water in 1,660.53902857 moles of water is given as follows;

Mass = (The number of moles of the substance) × (The molar mass of the substance)

∴ The mass of the water in the given quantity of water, m = 1,660.53902857 moles × 18.01528 g/mol ≈ 29.9150756 kg.

The density pf water, ρ = 997 kg/m³

Volume = Mass/Density

∴ The volume of the water present in the given quantity of water, v = 29.9150756 kg/(997 kg/m³) ≈ 30.0050909 liters

The volume of the water present in 1.00 × 10²⁷ molecules of water ≈ 30.0 liters

The average volume of a human body = 62 liters

Therefore, we can not swim in the given quantity of 1.00 × 10²⁷ molecules = 30.0 liters water

Chlorine is a halogen and has 7 valence electrons, which is represented by crosses on the left
makkiz [27]

There are 2 electrons in the overlapping region.

Chlorine is the second member of the halogen group which are form of family of elements that resemble one another very closely.

The electronic configuration of chlorine shows the arrangement of chlorine electrons within it's atom.

At the outer most shell of the atom is seven electrons, therefore requires only one electron each to attain the octet arrangement.

The overlapping of the orbitals indicates the chemical bond formed by sharing of electrons between atoms called covalent bonding.

To complete it's outer most shell, it will need to share electron with another chlorine atom.

Therefore, there are 2 electrons in the overlapping region.

Write 2,469,100 in Engineering Notation with 3 significant figures.
Gala2k [10]

Answer: 2.47\times 10^{6}

Explanation:

Engineering notation : It is the representation of expressing the numbers that are too big or too small and are represented in the decimal form times 10 raise to the power.  It is similar to the scientific notation but in engineering notation, the powers of ten are always multiples of 3.

The engineering notation written in the form:

a\times 10^b

where,

a = the number which is greater than 0 and less than 999

b = an integer multiple of 3

Now converting the given value of 2,469,100 into engineering notation, we get 2.47\times 10^{6}

Hence, the correct answer is, 2.47\times 10^{6}

2. Explain why carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is increasing.
Mariana [72]

Answer: Carbon dioxide concentrations are rising mostly because of the fossil fuels that people are burning for energy.

(1)Extra greenhouse gases in our atmosphere are the main reason that Earth is getting warmer.

(2)Greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane, trap the Sun's heat in Earth's atmosphere.

(3)It says that the 1997 Kyoto Protocol was an unmitigated success, with every single one of the 36 countries that signed up reducing their mean annual greenhouse gas emissions from 2008-2012 by an average of 5% relative to the levels seen in 1990.Jun 15, 2016 Many argue that Kyoto's failure is due to deficiencies in the structure of the agreement, such as the exemption of developing countries from reductions requirements, or the lack of an effective emissions trading scheme.by 2012
