Answer:

The Req is 16 ohm, total current is same for both i.e. 0.75A  and voltage are 9V and 3V for resistor R1 and R2 respectively.

Explanation:

  • For series combination, resistance are added, Req = R1 + R2 = 16 ohm.

V(total)= I(total) * Req

or, I(total)=V/Req=12/16=0.75 amp.

Now,

Voltage across R1= I(total) * R1= 0.75* 12=9V

Voltage across R2= I(total) * R2= 0.75* 4=3V

  • However, in parallel combination, voltage is constant across both the resistance, current is different in both the resistance and total resistance is calculated by the following expression:
  • R(parallel) = (R1 * R2)/ R1+R2

A man applies a force of 100 Newtons to a rock for 60 seconds, but the rock does not not move. What is the amount of work done b
frozen [14]
Well if the rock doesn't move, then there is no amount of work done. There is no work done on an object if a force is applied to the object but it DOES NOT change its position, in this case is the rock.

Why does a Ray of light passing through a glass slab not shown dispersion?
Hatshy [7]

Answer:

After refraction at two parallel faces of a glass slab, a ray of light emerges in a direction parallel to the direction of incidence of white light on the slab. As rays of all colours emerge in the same direction (of incidence of white light), hence there is no dispersion, but only lateral displacement.

How did the work of Dmitri Mendeleev differ from that of John Newlands in the development of the periodic table?
Sonja [21]
B.

Both recognized that the elements have repeating properties but Mendeleev realized that there are elements yet to be discovered while Newlands tried to fit the known elements together.
