2. A random sample of 30 households was selected as part of a study on electricity usage, and the number of kilowatt-hours (kWh)

was recorded for each household in the sample for the March quarter of 2017. The average usage was found to be 375kWh. From past years in the March quarter the population standard deviation of the usage was 81k Assuming the standard deviation is unchanged and that the usage is normally distributed ; A. Determine the interval of 95% confidence for the average kilowatt-hours for the population. B. Determine the 99% confidence interval. C. With a confidence level of 90%, what would the minimum sample size need to be in order for the true mean of the heights to be less than 20kWh from the sample mean? (This would mean an error amount of 20kWh.)

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that n =30, x bar = 375 and sigma = 81

Normal distribution is assumed and population std dev is known

Hence z critical values can be used.

For 95% Z critical=1.96

Margin of error = 1.96(\frac{81}{\sqrt{30} } )=29

Confidence interval = 375±29

=(346,404)

B) 99% confidence

Margin of error = 2.59*Std error =38

Confidence interval = 375±38

=(337, 413)

C) For 90%

Margin of error = 20

Std error = 20/1.645 = 12.158

Sample size

n=(\frac{81}{12.158} )^2\\=44.38

Atleast 44 people should be sample size.

A turkey was cooked at 400 f in the oven for 3 hours. the internal temperature rose from 30 f to 156 f. what was the average ris
s344n2d4d5 [400]
Given,
The turkey was cooked in the oven for 3 hours.
The internal temperature rose from 30 degress F to 156 degrees F.

Average rise in temperature per hour = Total rise in temperature/ total number of hours

Average rise in temperature = 156 degrees F – 30 degrees F= 126 degrees F

Total number of hours = 3 hours

Average rise in temperature per hour = 126 degrees F/3 hours= 42 degrees F/hour

Consider the parabola given by the equation: f ( x ) = − 2 x 2 − 14 x − 1 Find the following for this parabola: A) The vertex: (
LiRa [457]

Answer:

a) (-3.5;23.5)

b) (0,-1)

c) (-0.07;0) and (-6.93;0)

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) = − 2x² − 14 x − 1

a) vertex

b) vertical intercept

c) 2 x intercept (round to two decimal places)

a) Vertex (-b/2a; -Δ/4a)

a = -2 |  b = -14 | c = -1

xv = -(-14)/2.(-2) = 14/-4 = -3.5

Δ = b² - 4ac = (-14)² - 4.(-2).(-1) = 196 - 8 = 188

yv = -188/4.(-2) = -188/-8 = 23.5

Vertex(-3.5;23.5)

b) vertical intercept ⇒ x = 0

f(0) = -2.0² - 14.0 - 1 = -1

vertical intercept: (0,-1)

c) x intercept ⇒ roots

Δ = b² - 4ac = (-14)² - 4.(-2).(-1) = 196 - 8 = 188

√Δ = √188 = 13.71

x = -(-14) ± 13.71/2.(-2) = 14 ±13.71/-4

x' = 14 -13.71/-4 = -0.07

x" = 14 + 13.71/-4 = -6.93

So, the x intercept points are (-0.07;0) and (-6.93;0)
