It’s either reservoir or mode of transmission.
I personally can’t pick one because of how the question is written. The part that confuses me the most is word “carrying” which indicates the place where microorganism lives in, such as water, soil, food, humans, animals.
Mode of transmission means the way microorganisms are spread (droplets, air, direct contact, etc.) from one place to another.

Explanation:
1. Pre-exercise: It is good to have eaten carbohydrates like fruits or fast carbs. This is to provide energy that does not need a lot of breakdown since your body will need energy that is readily available to carry out the exercise.
Post-exercise: carbs to replenish the glycogen storage and to give all cells new energy in order to function. Protein (amino acids in protein) is also good to build up muscles.
2. Foods contain macronutrients: carbohydrates, proteins and fats. All of these are important to maintain all bodily functions. With noo exceptions, you can not cut out any of these. Water is important because your body is around 70% water. Electrolytes (Na+, Cl-, K´+, etc) are also important because they help you retain some water. WIthout these, all water would just pass through the body and no water would be left. Electrolytes and water is especially important after exercise.
They eventually fry the system
It goes both ways... helps but not too much.
