We see this in the Declaration of Independence when it says Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness and we also see in the Declaration of Independence that if the government tries to take our natural rights we the people can over power the government and put a new government that works for us. The US Constitution is also affected by the Enlightenment philosophy. Locke spoke out for freedom of thought, speech, and religion, he believed property to be the most important natural right. In the US Constitution in the Bill of Rights in #1 it states that we have freedom of speech and religion.
C. The Framers believed that the best form of government is one in which elected leaders represent the interests of the people. They wanted a limited government where the government had restrictions and protected human rights. The Enlightenment philosophy had a major influence to have this type of government.
