Answer: The pressure of the gas is 19 atm.

Explanation: By using ideal gas equation, which is:

PV=nRT

Given conditions are:

T = 20°C = (273 + 20)K = 293K

V = 5 gallon = ( 5 × 3.97)L = 18.95L

n = 15 moles

R=0.082057\text{ L atm }mol^{-1}K^{-1}  (Gas Constant)

P = ? atm

Putting all the values in above equation, we get

P\times 18.95L=(15mol)(0.082057\text{ L atm }mol^{-1}K^{-1})(293K)

P = 19 atm

Therefore, the pressure of the gas is found to be 19 atm.

How is electronegativity related to covalent bonding?
Vinvika [58]
Covalent bonds form when atoms share electrons. This sharing allows each atom to achieve its octet of electrons and greater stability. Methane, CH 4<span>, the simplest organic compound, contains covalent bonds. Carbon has four valence electrons, while hydrogen has one valence electron. By sharing these outer‐shell electrons, carbon and hydrogen complete their valence shells and become more stable. The duet of electrons on the hydrogen is isoelectronic with helium and forms a complete shell.</span>

What is the correct formula for combining Mg2+ and Br1+
True [87]

Answer: The correct formula is MgBr_2

Explanation:

For formation of a neutral ionic compound, the charges on cation and anion must be balanced. The cation is formed by loss of electrons by metals and anions are formed by gain of electrons by non metals.

Here magnesium is having an oxidation state of +2 called as Mg^{2+} cation and bromine Br^{-} is an anion with oxidation state of -1. Thus they combine and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral MgBr_2.

The cations and anions being oppositely charged attract each other through strong coloumbic forces and form an ionic bond.
