You drive in a straight line at 24 m/s for 8 miles, then at 30 m/s for another 8 miles. (a) How does your average speed sav comp
frosja888 [35]
Part A.) The midpoint between the two speeds is just an estimate of the exact average speed. This is not exactly 27 m/s because although they have the same distance, they differ in speed. So, the answer is more or less, but not equal to, 27 m/s.

Part B.) The average speed is the total amount of distance traveled per total time.

Convert miles to meters: 1 mile = 1,609.34 meters
8 miles* 1,609.34 m/1 mile = 12,874.72 m

Average Speed = (12,874.72 m + 12,874.72 m)/[(12,874.72 m/24 m/s)+ (12,874.72 m/30 m/s)]
Average speed = 26.67 m/s

How is the combined gas law used to calculate changes in pressure, temperatures, and/or volume for a fixed amount of gas?
nalin [4]

Answer:

Let's start by considering the ideal gas law:

pV=nRT

where

p is the gas pressure

V is its volume

n is the number of moles

R is the gas constant

T is the absolute temperature

This equation can also be rewritten as

\frac{pV}{T}=nR

Now, if we consider a fixed amount of gas, this means that the number of moles (n) is constant. So we can rewrite the equation as

\frac{pV}{T}=const.

And therefore, if we consider a gas undergoing a certain transformation from 1 to 2, we can write

\frac{p_1V_1}{T_1}=\frac{p_2V_2}{T_2}

where 1 indicates the conditions of the gas at the beginning and 2 the conditions of the gas after the process. So, the change in pressure/temperature/volume of the gas can be found by using this equation.

A woman stands in a boat at rest on a calm lake. She throws a 10 kg anchor off the front of the boat, which has a mass of 1,000
iris [78.8K]

Answer:

D

Explanation:

P  =  m v

P  =  1,000  kg  ×  10  m/s

P  =  10,000  kg  m/s

So  the  answer  would  be  D

a sound wave travels through the ground, with a wavelength of 79.3m and a period of 0.615 s. how fast is the wave travelling?
12345 [234]

Answer:

The speed of the wave is 128.94 m/s

Explanation:

Use the relationship between wavelength (lambda) and frequency (f)  that are in a mutually reciprocal relationship via the speed of propagation:

\lambda = vT\implies v = \frac{\lambda}{T}\\v = \frac{79.3m}{0.615s}=128.94\frac{m}{s}

The speed of the wave is 128.94 m/s

Help me! I need to know this for my Veterinarian unit in class. Why do cats hate water?
loris [4]

Another reason why cats hate water is attributed to their history. There is not much in a cat's background to recommend them for successful interactions with bodies of water, be it small or big. Cat's ancestors lived in dry arid places which means rivers or oceans weren't obstacles they had to face.

Hope this helps:)
