Two objects of mass 0.2 kg and 0.1 kg, respectively, move parallel to the xaxis, as shown above. the 0.2 kg object overtakes and

collides with the 0.1 kg object. immediately after the collision, the ycomponent of the velocity of the 0.2 kg object is 1 m/s upward. what is the ycomponent of the velocity of the 0.1 kg object immediately after the collision'?

Answer: the velocity in the y component is -2m/s

Explanation: Here we must apply the conservation of the linear momentum.

In the initial scenario, both objects move in the x-direction, so the total momentum in y is equal to zero because momentum is Py = m*vy

In this scenario, we only have momentum in x, but that does not matter in this problem.

Now, after the collision, the object of m = 0.2kg, has a velocity in y of vy1 = 1m/s, then the momentum of this object is Py1 = 0.2kg*1m/s = 0.2kg*m/s

Now we apply the conservation, before the impact we have that the total momentum in y is zero, so we have now that:

Py1 + Py2 = 0 = 0.2kg*m/s + Py2

and Py2 = 0.1kg*vy2

0.1kg*vy2 = 0.2kg*m/s

vy1 = -(0.2kg*m/s)/(0.1kg) = -2m/s

A bowling ball (mass = 7.2 kg, radius = 0.11 m) and a billiard ball (mass = 0.38 kg, radius = 0.028 m) may each be treated as un
Semenov [28]

Answer:

Explanation:

Given that

Mass of bowling ball M1=7.2kg

The radius of bowling ball r1=0.11m

Mass of billiard ball M2=0.38kg

The radius of the Billiard ball r2=0.028m

Gravitational constant

G=6.67×10^-11Nm²/kg²

The magnitude of their distance apart is given as

r=r1+r2

r=0.028+0.11

r=0.138m

Then, gravitational force is given as

F=GM1M2/r²

F=6.67×10^-11×7.2×0.38/0.138²

F=9.58×10^-9N

The force of attraction between the two balls is

F=9.58×10^-9N

A 3.0 \Omega Ω resistor is connected in parallel to a 6.0 \Omega Ω resistor, and the combination is connected in series with a 4
GarryVolchara [31]

Answer:

The power dissipated in the 3 Ω resistor is P= 5.3watts.

Explanation:

After combine the 3 and 6 Ω resistor in parallel, we have an 2 Ω and a 4 Ω resistor in series.

The resultating resistor is of Req=6Ω.

I= V/Req

I= 2A

the parallel resistors have a potential drop of Vparallel=4 volts.

I(3Ω) = Vparallel/R(3Ω)

I(3Ω)= 1.33A

P= I(3Ω)² * R(3Ω)

P= 5.3 Watts
