The main reason for such a rapid change in the climate is attributed to the human activity because the humans have been constantly increasing the levels of the CO2 in the atmosphere in the past 100 years. The process has been going on naturally, but the humans have managed to accelerate it significantly and strengthening the Greenhouse effect more and more.
Robinson explains how she uses layers in fossilized corals to understand what the environment was like overtime. By finding out what mainly makes up each layer and finding out roughly how old each layer is, she can begin to understand what the chemical composition and climate was like when the coral pieces were alive
