Chemistry

CO2 is not polar as in this case the same types of molecules are pulling in the same as well as opposite direction. CH4 is also not polar as there is no imbalance in the charge of the molecules. CBr4 is also not polar because in this case also no imbalance in the molecular charges can be seen. CHBr3 is a bit polar in nature because it has different kind of charges at its opposite ends. S among the all 4 options CHBr3 is polar.

What is the empirical formula for a substance if a 201.6 g sample of it contains 54.0 grams of nitrogen, 15.0 grams of hydrogen,
jeyben [28]

The empirical formula of the substance would be NH_4Cl

Empirical formula calculation

The constituents of the compound are as follows:

N = 54/201.6 = 26.78% = 26.78/14 = 1.91 moles

H = 15/201.6 = 7.44% = 7.44/1 = 7.44 moles

Cl = 132.6/201.6 = 65.48% = 65.48/35.5 = 1.84 moles

Divide the number of moles by the smallest"

N = 1.91/1.84 = 1

H = 7.44/1.84 = 4

Cl = 1.84/1.84 = 1

Thus, the empirical formula is NH_4Cl

Calculate the concentration of h3o in a solution that contains 5.5 × 10-5 m oh- at 25°c. identify the solution as acidic, basic,
mariarad [96]
We have been given the OH⁻ ion concentration, we can calculate the pOH concentration.
pOH = -log [OH⁻]
pOH = - log (5.5 x 10⁻⁵ M)
pOH = 4.26
we can then calculate the pH value
pH + pOH = 14
pH = 14 - 4.26
pH = 9.74
since pH > 7 the solution is basic.

by knowing the pH value, we can calculate the H₃O⁺ concentration
pH = - log[H₃O⁺]
[H₃O⁺] = antilog (-pH) = antilog (-9.74)
[H₃O⁺] = 1.82 x 10⁻¹⁰ M

Which biogeochemical cycle is the only one that does not include the atmosphere?
In-s [12.5K]

Answer:

Phosphorus cycle

Explanation:

Biogeochemical cycle, any of the natural pathways by which essential elements of living matter are circlated.

There are four types of biogeochemical cycle, they are ; water cycle,carbon cycle,nitrogen cycle and phosphorous cycle

Carbon cycle is the cycle in which photosynthesis and cellular respiration take place.

Water cycle involves transpiration.

Nitrogen cycle Is the cycle that is dependent upon bacteria for nitrogen fixation and denitrification.

Phosphorus cycle is one of the slowest biogeochemical cycle. It does not stay in the atmosphere, because it is normally in a liquid state at room temperature. It does not include the atmosphere.

Question 18 (Essay Worth 8 points)
DENIUS [597]

Yes, the law of conservation of mass holds.

Explanation:

In every chemical reaction, mass is always conserved. This implies that in chemical reaction, the process proceeds maintaining the same set of atom in the same proportion without new ones forming.

 • From the description given, decomposition of the Silver carbonate will produce a silver residue with the given mass.
 • The other mass that seems lost can be examined to be given off as carbon dioxide gas which is the other product of the reaction and oxygen.
 • Therefore, since the products are silver, carbon dioxide and oxygen, the remaining mass is that of the carbon dioxide and oxygen. It is not lost.

YOU DO:
Sever21 [200]

Answer:

0.7712 L

Explanation:

Molarity = 0.25M

Volume = ?

Mass = 5.0 g

The relationship between these quantities is given as;

Molarity = Number of moles / Volume

Volume = Number of moles / Molarity

Number of moles = Mass / Molar mass

Molar mass of LiF = 25.939 g/mol

Number of moles = 5 / 25.939 = 0.1928 mol

Volume = 0.1928 / 0.25 = 0.7712 L
