Yes

Explanation:

Polls are necessary only if they occur among the public. If social issues are to be catered to, public must be involved. Social issues can be handled properly if polls are taken within the public and analyse the results of it.

It would help the state become more socially involved and the public can see real time change happening. Not to mention the feeling of being involved in a democratic states helps the people of that state feel at peace.
