What happens when calcium carbonate reacts with our acidic rain? (non-scientific explanation please)

Okay, well the first thing we need to understand with chemistry is something known as Reaction Rates.  This is the amount of time it takes to complete a reaction.

Acidic Rain will not cause a building to instantly crumble or anything like that.  Instead, calcium carbonate (which is chalk) will slowly break down due to acidity of the rain.

When something has a very high or very low ph, it is known to be corrosive.  An example of a type of corrosion is the reaction between copper and oxygen to produce rust.

When Acidic Rain interacts with calcium carbonate, over time it will slowly start to degrade and break down.  One thing you can compare it to is erosion.

Name two events involving electrons that can result in the formation of chemical bonds between atoms.
Alona [7]

Explanation:

Two events involving electrons are gain and loss of electrons.

When there is gain or loss of electrons between two atoms then it results in the formation of ionic bond.

Whereas when there is sharing of electrons between two atoms then it results in the formation of covalent bond.

Therefore, the chemical bonds formed can be ionic or covalent bonds.

Explain why the male angler fish is small and does not require a fully formed gut
Arturiano [62]

Answer:They are small because they don't need larger bodies to enable them attach to the females. They don't have fully formed gut because when they reach adulthood their digestive system stops functioning.

Explanation:they then find a female angler fish, attach by bitting into her flesh and fusing to her body. So whatever she eats they eat too.
