Well, you really need to think on this one. The shorter piece can be four inches long. See, when you multiply four by two, you get eight. And when you add four and eight together, you get twelve inches, which is one foot.

The stick is L feet long

the2 pieces aer x and y
x=2y
x+y=L
sub 2y for x
2y+y=L
3y=L
divide by 3
y=L/3

the shorter piece is L/3 feet long if the original stick is L feet long

How do you turn 9 and 3 5s as a decimal???
Zarrin [17]

Answer:

9.6

Step-by-step explanation:

As 9 and 3/5s, the 9 is whole so you do not change it. To make 3/5th into a decimal you increase the denominator into x/10. To make 5 into 10 you multiply 5x2=10. And since you changed the bottom you have to change the top and multiply it by 2. 3x2=6. So the 9 stays the same and since the first place beind the decimal is tenths, and youre fraction is now 6/10 you put it as 9.6.

Hope it helps!

Using your knowledge of exponential and logarithmic functions and properties, what is the intensity of a fire alarm that has a s
Ierofanga [76]

Option B:

I=1.0\times\ 10^{0} \ \text {watts}/ \text m^2}

Solution:

Given sound level = 120 decibel

To find the intensity of a fire alarm:

$\beta=10\log\left(\frac{I}{I_0} \right)

where I_0=1\times10^{-12}\ \text {watts}/ \text m^2}

Step 1: First divide the decibel level by 10.

120 ÷ 10 = 12

Step 2: Use that value in the exponent of the ratio with base 10.

10^{12}

Step 3: Use that power of twelve to find the intensity in Watts per square meter.

$10^{12}=\left(\frac{I}{I_0} \right)

$10^{12}=\left(\frac{I}{1\times10^{-12}\ \text {watts}/ \text m^2} \right)

Now, do the cross multiplication,

I=10^{12}\times1\times\ 10^{-12} \ \text {watts}/ \text m^2}

I=1\times\ 10^{12-12} \ \text {watts}/ \text m^2}

I=1\times\ 10^{0} \ \text {watts}/ \text m^2}

I=1.0\times\ 10^{0} \ \text {watts}/ \text m^2}

Option B is the correct answer.

Hence I=1.0\times\ 10^{0} \ \text {watts}/ \text m^2}.

Diego cut 7 smaller boards of equal length from a board that is 9 1/3 feet long. How long is each of the 7 smaller boards? Write
Temka [501]
It would be 9 1/3 divided by 7/1 or 28/3 * 1/7

It would give you 28/21 which would simplify to 4/3 and still leave you with an improper fraction
