Atomic weight of gold is 197.2 ami
Calculate no of gram atoms in 7.5g of gold
Salsk061 [2.6K]
The atomic weight is numerically equivalent to the molar mass.
therefore molar mass of gold is - 197.2 g/mol
avagadros number states that 1 mol of any substance is made of 6.022 x 10²³ units. These units could be atoms making up elements or molecules making up compounds.
1 mol of gold is made of 6.022 x 10²³ atoms of gold
since 1 mol weighs 197.2 g
therefore if 197.2 g of gold contains - 6.022 x 10²³ atoms of gold
then 7.5 g contains - 6.022 x 10²³ x 7.5/ 197.2 = 2.29 x 10²² atoms of gold
answer is 2.29 x 10²² atoms of gold

An excess of zinc carbonate was added to a 20.0 mL solution X that contains sulfide and thiosulfate ions. Reaction occured accor
Helga [31]

Answer:

0.0325M S₂O₃²⁻

Explanation:

Based on the reaction:

S²⁻ + ZnCO₃ → ZnS(s) + CO₃²⁻

1 mole of S²⁻ reacts per mole of ZnCO₃

when the reaction occurs, the sulfide ions are precipitated keeping in solution just S₂O₃²⁻ ions.

Then, these ions are titrated with iodine, thus:

2 S₂O₃²⁻ + I₂ → S₄O₆²⁻ + 2I⁻

That means 2 moles of thiosulfate react per mole of iodine.

Moles of iodine spent are:

5.20x10⁻³L ₓ (0.01000 mol / L) = 5.20x10⁻⁵ moles of I₂

5.20x10⁻⁵ moles of I₂ ₓ (2 moles S₂O₃²⁻ / 1 mole I₂) =

1.04x10⁻⁴ moles of S₂O₃²⁻

As dilution factor of the S₂O₃²⁻ solution was 50.0mL / 20.0mL = 2.5. Moles of the initial solution X are:

1.04x10⁻⁴ moles of S₂O₃²⁻ ₓ 2.5 = 1.60x10⁻⁴ moles of S₂O₃²⁻. In 20.0mL:

1.60x10⁻⁴ moles of S₂O₃²⁻ / 0.0200L =

0.0325M S₂O₃²⁻

How many atoms are in a sample of 68.7 g copper (Cu)?
laila [671]
Divide the number of grams present in the sample by copper's gram atomic weight to find the number of gram atomic weights present. Then multiply that result by Avogadro's Number: 6.022137 x 10^23 atoms/gram atomic weight.1,200 g/(63.54 g/gram atomic weight) ? 18.885741 gram-atomic weights. Hope this helps.

Ions are atoms that have become___ as they have lost or gained electrons
whats in the gap?
GuDViN [60]

Answer:

Positively or negatively charged (im not 100% sure but the question says "as they have lost or gained electrons") because atoms that gain electrons are called anions and atoms that lose electrons are called cations. atoms losing electrons are positively charged and atoms gaining electrons are negatively charged.

I'm not sure if this helps a lot but now you know a few things about ions :)
