Best to enclose those fractions in parentheses:

(1/5)x + y = (2/5).

Otherwise, how would your reader know you didn't mean   1 / (5x) ?

Please note:  Your 1/0x involves division by zero and thus is not defined.  Make certain you've copied down the problem correctly.

If you present the following, instead, you can solve the system:

(1/5)x + y = (2/5).
       x + (1/3)y = (1/2)

Hint:  Determine what the LCD (lowest common denominator) is.  Multiply both equations by this LCD, to remove all fractions from the problem.

Answer:

2y²   +   9

---------------

      15y³

Step-by-step explanation:

Start by identifying the LCD, and then change each fraction so that its denominator is the LCD.

Here the LCD is 15y³, which is evenly divisible by 15y and 5y³.

Focus now on the first fraction:  2 / (15y).  Multiplying numerator and denominator of this fraction by y² results in

y²·2          2y²

--------- → ----------

y²·15y       15y³           ←This is the correct LCD

Multiplying numerator and denominator of the second fraction by 3 results in:

   3·3            9

------------ → ---------

 3·5y³         15y³          ←This is the correct LCD

So now those two original terms look like:

 2y²         9

--------- + --------

 15y³       15y³

and this can be written in simpler form as:

2y²   +   9

---------------

      15y³

What is the greatest common factor of 32 and 48
Bond [772]
Turn each number into the product of it's prime factors.

32=16x2=2x2x2x2x2=2^5

48=24*2=6x4x2=2x3x2x2x2

Pick the highest number that occurs. In this case it is 2. Now we have to see how many times it appears in both. It appears 5 times in 32 and 4 times in 48. 4 is the highest number of times it appears in the numbers so:

2^4=2x2x2x2=16

The Greatest Common Factor (GCF) of 32 and 48 is 16.
