How does the change of ph effect homeostasis in animals ?
Ludmilka [50]

Answer:

Homeostasis affects the body's pH level, and therefore the health a person can maintain. The human body is designed to heal itself. This cannot occur unless it is in a state of homeostasis, so the body will do what is necessary to try to maintain this balance. ... The result is an acidic pH.

In the lab, you isolate a chlorella mutant that is unable to switch xanthophyll pigments into the inactive, non-heat-dissipating
balandron [24]

Answer:

Option B, no, because the xanthophylls prevent the production of reactive oxygen species.

Explanation:

Complete question

In the lab, you isolate a chlorella mutant that is unable to switch xanthophyll pigments into the inactive, non-heat-dissipating form. if you released that mutant into a small pond shaded by trees, would the mutation spread, and why?

a) yes, because the xanthophylls prevent the production of reactive oxygen species.

b) no, because the xanthophylls prevent the production of reactive oxygen species.

c) no, because xanthophyll dissipates absorbed light as heat, and in low light environments, such dissipation would decrease photosynthesis and therefore growth.

d) yes, because the heat released by the xanthophylls would warm up the cells and enhance photosynthesis.

e) no, because mutations never spread in nature

Solution

Xanthophylls are oxygenated carotenoids which are very essential for photosynthesis of plant. They play a major role in harvesting light and in photoprotection. The structure of xanthophyll consists of conjugated double bonds and they are good at facing reactive oxygen species (such as cholera vector) thereby damaging their DNA, restricting the cellular pathways by damaging the oxidation pathway. Hence, in presence of reactive oxygen species the light received by xanthophylls is not used to in photosynthesis but in quenching the reactive oxygen species .

Hence, option B is correct

The femur is a typical example of a long bone. Describe the structure of the femur diaphysis and the epiphyseal ends. Explain wh
dimaraw [331]

Answer:

Femur diaphysis and epiphyseal ends is made up with cortical bone and contains bone narrow. It is in the middle tabular part and composed with compact bone and central marrow cavity is situated around it. It is round in shape and a long bone. It is the origin of the attachment of many muscles as well as ligament.

The femur is the longest bone which is present in our thigh and also call as thigh bone. The division of femur can be divided into shaft, proximal and distal. In some aspect it is the strongest bone of our body and it helps in any activities.

How does the action og wind affect a rock appearance

Leona [35]
Wind causes the lifting and transport of lighter particles from a dry soil, leaving behind a surface of coarse grained sand and rocks. The removed particles will be transported to another region where they may form sand dunes on a beach or in a desert. Wind erosion is referred to as eolian erosion. Differences in atmospheric pressure will cause the motion of air that can erode surface material when velocities are high enough to move particles.
