Answer:

By adding 2.88 milliliter of water to the 0.12 milliliter of 0.25 M solution of sodium citrate will give 25-fold diluted solution.

Explanation:

25 fold dilution means that the concentration of solution is reduced by one by twenty fifth times of the original solution.

Fold - dilution = \frac{V}{V'}

V =Volume of original solution before dilution

V' = Total Volume of solution after dilution

V = x

V'= 3

\frac{1}{25}=\frac{x}{3}

x = \frac{3}{25}mL

Total Volume of solution after dilution = V + y

y = Amount of solvent added ( here is water)

V + 3 = 3 mL

\frac{3}{25}mL+y=3mL

y=3 mL-\frac{3}{25}mL=2.88 ml

Volume of water added = 2.88 mL

Volume of original solution  = 3 ml - 2.88 ml = 0.12 mL

By adding 2.88 milliliter of water to the 0.12 milliliter of 0.25 M solution of sodium citrate will give 25-fold diluted solution.

Explain why 5.00 grams of salt does not contain the same number of particles as 5.0 grams of sugar
Tom [10]

Answer:

5.00 grams of salt contain more particles than 5.0 grams of sugar

Explanation:

Salt = NaCl

Molar mass = 58.45  g/mol

Sugar = C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁

Molar mass = 342.3 g/mol

Sugar's molar mass is higher than salt.

So 1 mol of sugar weighs more than 1 mol of salt

But 5 grams of salt occupies more mole than 5 grams of sugar

5 grams of salt = 5g / 58.45 g/m = 0.085 moles

5 grams of sugar = 5g/ 342.3 g/m = 0.014 moles

In conclusion, we have more moles of salt in 5 grams; therefore there are more particles than in 5 g of sugar.

The number of waves that pass a point in one second is called ________________________________
almond37 [142]
<span>The characteristics of a wave are given certain names to describe them, and this helps scientists to accurately describe any given wave. The characteristic known as frequency describes the number of waves that pass a point, and it is measured in waves per second, or Hertz, which is given the symbol Hz, but can also be described using the inverse of the SI unit for second, s^-1.</span>
