Answer: 150 ounces of sugar

Step-by-step explanation:

75 divided by 45 is 1.7 ounces, that means one cupcake has approximately 1.7 ounces in it. So 255 divided by 1.7 gives us 150 ounces.

Solution:

Ounces of Sugar used by Amanda to make 75 cupcakes = 45 Ounces

As, number of ounces of sugar is in Direct variation with number of cupcakes.

The meaning of direct variation is , the ratio of two variables in each case is same.

Here , Ratio of ounces of sugar, to number of cupcakes in each case will be same.

Let number of ounces of sugar  which will be used to make 255 cupcakes be x ounces.

\frac{45}{75}=\frac{x}{255}\\\\ \frac{3}{5}=\frac{x}{255}\\\\ x=\frac{255 \times 3}{5}\\\\ x=\frac{765}{5}\\\\ x=153

So, Number of  ounces of sugar  which will be used to make 255 cupcakes = 153 ounces.

At first it decreased by 60 percent and it increased by 80 percent
storchak [24]

The quantity reported an <em>equivalent net</em> percentage change of 28 percent.

<h3>How to calculate the net change of a quantity in percentages</h3>

In this problem we must determine the <em>simple</em> percentage change equivalent to two <em>consecutive</em> percentual changes. The formula that describes the situation is:

1 + r/100 = (1 - 60/100) · (1 + 80/100)

1 + r/100 = 72/100

r/100 = - 28/100

r = - 28

The quantity reported an <em>equivalent net</em> percentage change of 28 percent.

<h3>Remark</h3>

The statement is incomplete. Complete form is presented below:

All the items on the sale rack were 75 percent off their original price.
tresset_1 [31]

Answer:

112 $ is the original price

Step-by-step explanation:

x \times 0.75 = 84 \\ x = 84 \div 0.75 \\ x = 112

you have to think that the original price multiplied by 0.75 (also known as 75%) gave the result of what he saves i.e 84 $. So we put up an equation with the original price multiplied by 75% which equals the 84 $ he saved on buying that item on sale
