Hi there!

In order to use the elimination method, you have to create one variable that has the same coefficient. This is to be able to eliminate one variable and have a one variable equation (which you can then solve).

In your case, we'll have the "x" have the same coefficient by multiplying the top equation by 4 and the bottom equation by 2 :

4( -2x + 3y = -4) → -8x + 12y = -16

2( 4x - 2y = 16) → 8x - 4y = 32

Now that both of your equation have a variable with the same coefficient, you need to choose rather you need to add or subtract the equations in order to get rid of the variable (in this case we want to get rid of the "x").

In your case, you want to add both equation together which will give you :

8y = 16

Now that you only have one variable, all you need to do now is solve the equation for "y" :

8y = 16

Divide each side of the equation by 8

y = 2 → Your answer

There you go! I really hope this helped, if there's anything just let me know! :)

hello like almost everyone else on here, I'm probably gonna fail so uh help, please? In your own words explain how to multiply/d

Answer: It does not matter whether you multiply the radicands or simplify each radical first. You multiply radical expressions that contain variables in the same manner. As long as the roots of the radical expressions are the same, you can use the Product Raised to a Power Rule to multiply and simplify.

The physical motion of an object is modeled by the function

I think it’s 10.009 seconds. S=21.3t and s is given so you substitute it getting 213.2=21.3t so you divide by 21.3 to solve for t. You get 10.0093 so idk if you’d round it to 10.009 or 10.01

How do i solve this?
pantera1 [17]
The answer is x^2 - 4x +4. What I did was set it up as a ratio, FOILing out the two denominators on the left to get (x-5)?/(x^2 - 7x + 10) = (x+1)/1. Next I cross-multiplied to get (x-5)? = (x+1)(x^2 - 7x + 10). Next I FOILed out the right side to get (x-5)? = x^3 - 9x^2 + 24x - 20.  Now I have an equation just like 3x=9, for example, where I divide both sides by 3 to find x. Instead, since we have polynomials, we have to use long division. Divide the x^3 term by x-5 and you'll get it.

Answer:

x_{M} = - 1

Step-by-step explanation:

The coordinates of the midpoint are the average of the x and y coordinates of the endpoints , that is

x_{M} = \frac{4-6}{2} = \frac{-2}{2} = - 1
