One way of doing this would be to make use of the x- and y-intercepts.
Let x=0; then y =1, so (0,1) is a point on the line.  Let y=0; then x= -4.  (-4,0) is a point on the line.  Plot these 2 pts and draw a str. line thru them.

Another way would be to solve x<span>-4y=-4 for y and then to plot the result:

-4y = -x - 4; dividing both sides by -4 results in y = (1/4)x + 1.

Plot the y-intercept (0,1).  Next, starting with your pencil point on (0,1), move the pencil 4 spaces to the right and 1 space up.  That creates a slope of (1/4).  Put a black dot there.  Then draw a str. line thru (0,1) and (4,1).</span>

Write the number that matches the clues
almond37 [142]
290.

We know that the hundreds is two already.
The tens digit is 9 more than the ones digit, but since a digit can't be more than 9, the ones must be 0.

So the tens is 9 and the ones place is 0. Hopes this helps :)

Matthew is 8 years older than his brother. Use b to represent how old Matthew's brother is.
kompoz [17]
Hello, there!

Matthew is 8 years older than his brother. Use b to represent how old Matthew's brother is.

This means that Matthew's brother is 8 years younger than Matthew.

We will let 'M' represent Matthew's age and 'B' represent Matthew's brother's age.

The equation to represent this situation would be:

B = M - 8

I hope I helped!

Let me know if you need anything else!

If f(x)=x-1/3 and g(x)=3x+1, what is (f o g)(x)?
BlackZzzverrR [31]

Answer:

\[3x+\frac{2}{3}\]

Step-by-step explanation:

\[f(x)=x-\frac{1}{3}\]

\[g(x)=3x+1\]

Hence, \[(f o g)(x)=f(3x+1)\]

But, \[f(3x+1)=(3x+1)-\frac{1}{3}\]

Simplifying,

\[f(3x+1)=3x+(1-\frac{1}{3})\]

= \[f(3x+1)=3x+(\frac{3-1}{3})\]

= \[f(3x+1)=3x+(\frac{2}{3})\]

Hence, \[(f o g)(x)=3x+(\frac{2}{3})\]
