Answer: 30°

Explanation: so we know line F has to be 180° because it’s a line. it tells us the angle is 140°, so we know the interior angle is 40° because 180°-140°=40°. we also know that a triangle is 180°. so we have the two angles of the triangle: 110° and 40°. to find the third angle we find 110°+40°+?=180°. once we solve, we know the third angle is 30° because 180°-150°=30°.

hope this helped!

For the following geometric sequence find the recursive formula: {-1, 3, -9, ...}.
Artyom0805 [142]

Based on these first few terms, we can deduce that the next term is computed by switching the sign of the previous one, and multiplying it by 3: we start with -1, we switch the sign (1) and multiply by 3 (3); then again we switch the sign (-3) and multiply by 3 (-9), and so on.

Since switching sign is the same as multiplying by -1, we can compute every next term by multiplying the previous one by -3:

a_1 = -1\\a_2 = a_1\cdot(-3) = (-1)\cdot(-3)=3\\a_3 =a_2\cdot(-3)=3\cdot(-3)=-9

So, the recursive formula is

a_n = -3a_{n-1}

because it states precisely that the next term is -3 times the previous one.

Solve with the Quadratic Formula:
Gwar [14]
Let the width be x.
Length = 2x -1

The area of rectangle = 45 cm²

x*(2x -1) = 45

2x² -x = 45

2x² -x - 45 = 0              This is a quadratic equation

comparing to ax² + bx + c = 0,      a = 2, b = -1, c = -45

x =  (-b + √(b² -4ac)) / 2a      or   (-b - √(b² -4ac)) / 2a

x =  (- -1 + √((-1)² -4*2*-45)) / 2*2      or   (- -1 - √((-1)² -4*2*-45)) / 2*2

x =   (1 + √(1 +360)) / 2*2      or   (1 - √(1 + 360) / 2*2

x =   (1 + √361) / 4     or   (1 - √361) / 4

x =   (1 + 19) / 4     or   (1 - 19) / 4

x =  20/4  or  -18/4

x = 5 or -4.5

x can't be negative since we are solving for side.

x = 5 as the only valid solution.

Recall, the width = x = 5.
Length = 2x - 1 = 2*5 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9

Hence the length = 9cm , and width = 5cm
