The ribosomes is responsible for the synthesis of proteins. Internal transcribed spacer refers to the spacer DNA situated between the small-subunit ribosomal RNA and large-subunit rRNA genes in the chromosome or the corresponding transcribed region in the polycistronic rRNA precursor transcript.
