The density (mass divided by volume) of pure water is 1.00 g/cm^3 that of whole blood is 1.05 g/cm^3 and the density of seawater

is 1.03 g/cm^3. Required:a. What is the mass of 5.00 L of pure water?b. What is the mass of 5.00 L of whole blood?c. What is the mass of 5.00 L of seawater?

Answer:

a) 5000 g

b) 5250 g

c) 5150 g

Explanation:

For easier calculations, the formulas will be converted from g/cm³ to kg/m³, and then back when we're done.

Density of pure water is 1 g/cm³

1 g/cm³ = 1 * 0.001/0.000001

1 g/cm³ = 1000 kg/m³, and thus,

Density of pure blood

1.05 g/cm³ = 1050 kg/m³

Density of seawater

1.03 g/cm³ = 1030 kg/m³

Recall that, Density = mass / volume, and as such, mass = density * volume.

Converting our volume from L to m³

1 m³ = 1000 L, and as such

1 L = 0.001 m³

5 L = 0.005 m³

Mass of pure water = 1000 * 0.005

Mass of pure water = 5 kg

Mass of pure blood = 1050 * 0.005

Mass of pure blood = 5.25 kg

Mass of seawater = 1030 * 0.005

Mass of seawater = 5.15 kg

Converting these masses back to g, we have

Mass of pure water = 5 kg * 1000 g

Mass of pure water = 5000 g

Mass of pure blood = 5.25 kg * 1000 g

Mass of pure blood = 5250 g

Mass of seawater = 5.15 kg * 1000 g

Mass of seawater = 5150 g

The area of an equilaterla triangle is increasing at a rate of 5 m^2/hr. find the rate at witch the height is chganging when the
Lena [83]

The rate at which the height is changing is ( 5 / x ) m / hr

We know that,

Area of an equilateral triangle A = \sqrt{3} x^{2} / 4

h = \sqrt{3} x / 2

Where,

x = Side

h = Height

Given that,

dA / dt = 5 m^{2} / hr

h = \sqrt{3} x / 2

Differentiate both sides with respect to t

dh / dt = ( \sqrt{3}  / 2 ) ( dx / dt )

dx / dt = ( 2 /  \sqrt{3} ) ( dh / dt )

A = \sqrt{3} x^{2} / 4

Differentiate both sides with respect to t

dA / dt = ( \sqrt{3} / 4 ) ( 2x ) ( dx / dt )

5 =  ( \sqrt{3} / 4 ) ( 2x ) ( 2 /  \sqrt{3} ) ( dh / dt )

dh / dt = ( 5 / x ) m / hr

Rate of change of height is defined as the rate at which height of an object changes with respect to time. It is represented as dh / dt

Therefore, the rate at which the height is changing is ( 5 / x ) m / hr

your friend want to know the amont of salt added to her favorite fast food french fries what would you recommend that she do to
Alexeev081 [22]
That nutritional information is usually not posted up on the wall,
but by federal law, it's available on request, to any customer, at
any fast-food place.

All she has to do is ask to see the manager, and then ask the
manager for the nutritional information booklet.

She'll get a nice printed booklet that tells the salt content in the
fries, AND the amount of many other substances in ALL the items
sold at that place.

It's the law.  Don't be bashful.

A 12.0-g sample of carbon from living matter decays at the rate of 162.5 decays/minute due to the radioactive 14C in it. What wi
Ghella [55]

Answer:

a)143.8 decays/minute

b)0.41 decays/minute

Explanation:

From;

0.693/t1/2 = 2.303/t log (Ao/A)

Where;

t1/2=half-life of C-14= 5670 years

t= time taken to decay

Ao= activity of a living sample

A= activity of the sample under study

a)

0.693/5670 = 2.303/1000 log(162.5/A)

1.22×10^-4 = 2.303×10^-3 log(162.5/A)

1.22×10^-4/2.303×10^-3 = log(162.5/A)

0.53 × 10^-1 = log(162.5/A)

5.3 × 10^-2 = log(162.5/A)

162.5/A = Antilog (5.3 × 10^-2 )

A= 162.5/1.13

A= 143.8 decays/minute

b)

0.693/5670 = 2.303/50000 log(162.5/A)

1.22×10^-4 = 4.61×10^-5 log(162.5/A)

1.22×10^-4/4.61×10^-5 = log(162.5/A)

0.26 × 10^1 = log(162.5/A)

2.6= log(162.5/A)

162.5/A = Antilog (2.6 )

A= 162.5/398.1

A= 0.41 decays/minute
