What might you expect for the value of S∘ (entropy) for butane, C4H10?

Chemistry
1 answer:
Norma-Jean [14]3 years ago
4 0

Answer:

340 J·K⁻¹mol⁻¹

Explanation:

I looks like the standard entropy increases approximately linearly with the number of C atoms.

I plotted S° vs the number of C atoms and got the graph shown below.

It appears that S° for four carbon atoms should be about 340 J·K⁻¹mol⁻¹.·

Describe the three steps involved in producing crystals of the salt copper sulfate.
denpristay [2]

Answer:

Add copper (II) oxide (insoluble base), a little at a time to the warm dilute sulfuric acid and stir until the copper (II) oxide is in excess (stops disappearing) Filter the mixture into an evaporating basin to remove the excess copper (II) oxide. Leave the filtrate in a warm place to dry and crystallize.

The following reaction between ethyl alcohol and ethyl bromide forms diethyl ether via a substitution reaction (followed by depr
m_a_m_a [10]

Answer:

see explanation below

Explanation:

The question is incomplete. The missing parts are a) determine the electrophylic site. b) determine the nucleophylic site.

In order to do this, we need to write the reaction and do the mechanism. The nucleophylic site will be the site where the nucleophyle attacks to form the product. In this case the site is the carbon next to the bromine. In this place the Oxigen which is the nucleophyle goes. The electrophyle is the site where one atom substract to complete it's charges. In this case, the electrophyle is usually the hydrogen, so the site will be next to the oxygen after the nucleophyle attack.

You can see it better in the attached picture.

Cabr2 will most likely dissolve in which solvent? 1. bi3 2. h2o 3. br2 4. ccl4 5. c8h18
77julia77 [94]
General principle of solubility is 'like dissolves like'

CaBr_{2} is an ionic compound, wherein the constituent ions (Ca^{2+} and Br^{-}) are held by electrostatic forces of interaction.

Such ionic compounds are soluble in polar solvents.

Among the solvent mentioned in question, water (H_{2}O) has maximum polarity. Hence, CaBr_{2} is most likely to dissolve in H_{2}O

An insoluble solid is placed in water and the system allowed to reach equilibrium. The ratio of the rate at which ions join the
babunello [35]

Answer:

One.

Explanation:

Hello,

In this case, the equilibrium condition is characterized by the equality of the rates at which a process happen and the contrary process happen, so its ratio is 1. For instance, a chemical reaction at equilibrium will have a contant ratio of the velocity at which the products are formed and the reactants consumed

However, for the described insoluble solid that is allowed the reach equilibrium, the ratio of the rate at which ions join the solution and the rate at which ions join the lattice will be one since it reaches an equilibrium state.

Best regards.
