Divide 24 by 3 to figure out how many cubes are in 1 step (24/3=8). Now divide 84 by 8 to figure out how many steps he built with 84 cubes (84/8=10.5). Ron's second staircase has 10 and a half steps :)

Please show me how to do this!!
astra-53 [7]
An x-intercept occurs where, in an ordered pair, the x-value is any number and the y-value is zero. This results in a point on the function lying exactly on the x-axis, hence why it's called an x-intercept.

Using your table, none of the x-values have a matching y-value that equals zero. So, it's safe to assume your answer is option D. None of those points cross the x-axis.

Of course, gold could also move higher even with high interest rates, and it could move lower even during periods of ultra-low rates. Monetary policy can also affect the gold price.
