A ) This is the curve of a normal distribution. The average height is 64 inches. That means :
The Mean is 64 in.
Standard deviation is: 3.5 in.
The values on the horizontal axis:
- 3 SD ( standard deviations )= 53.5,
-2 SD = 57,
- 1 SD = 60.5,
The Mean = 64,
1 SD = 67.5,
2 SD = 71;
3 SD = 74.5
B ) About 2.5% of all plants will be taller than 71 inches.
3,000 * 0.025 = 75.

Answer:

75 plants will be taller

Step-by-step explanation:

Given mean = 64  and standard deviation = 3.5

To get normal curve , we find one , two and three standard deviation from the mean.

To get one standard deviation we add and subtract 3.5 from mean

-1 SD =60.5          , +1 SD = 67.5

-2 SD =57             , +2 SD = 71

-3 SD = 53.5          , +3 SD = 74.5

The graph is attached below with percentages

(b) from the graph we can see that, 2.5% are after 71

that means 2.5% plants are taller than 71 inches

3000* 2.5% = 3000*0.025 = 75

75 plants will be taller

(3,4) and (-5,6) are "coordinate planes".

These appear in algebra and math when you're graphing. These coordinate planes consist of "x" and "y" (x,y). The x's (which are 3 and -5 in your situation) should be graphed accordingly using the x-axis and the y's (which are 4 and 6 in your situation) should be graph accordingly using the y-axis.

Answer:

The number that belongs <em>in</em> the green box is equal to 909.

General Formulas and Concepts:
<u>Algebra I</u>

Equality Properties

  • Multiplication Property of Equality
  • Division Property of Equality
  • Addition Property of Equality
  • Subtraction Property of Equality

<u>Trigonometry</u>

[<em>Right Triangles Only</em>] Pythagorean Theorem:
\displaystyle a^2 + b^2 = c^2

  • a is a leg
  • b is another leg
  • c is the hypotenuse

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1: Define</u>

<em>Identify given variables</em>.

<em>a</em> = 30

<em>b</em> = 3

<em>c</em> = <em>x</em>

<em />

<u>Step 2: Find </u><u><em>x</em></u>

Let's solve for the <em>general</em> equation that allows us to find the hypotenuse:

  1. [Pythagorean Theorem] Square root both sides [Equality Property]:
    \displaystyle \begin{aligned}a^2 + b^2 = c^2 \rightarrow c = \sqrt{a^2 + b^2}\end{aligned}

Now that we have the <em>formula</em> to solve for the hypotenuse, let's figure out what <em>x</em> is equal to:

  1. [Equation] <em>Substitute</em> in variables:
    \displaystyle \begin{aligned}c & = \sqrt{a^2 + b^2} \\x & = \sqrt{30^2 + 3^2}\end{aligned}
  2. <em>Evaluate</em>:
    \displaystyle \begin{aligned}c & = \sqrt{a^2 + b^2} \\x & = \sqrt{30^2 + 3^2} \\& = \boxed{ \sqrt{909} } \\\end{aligned}

∴ the hypotenuse length <em>x</em> is equal to √909 and the number <em>under</em> the square root, our answer, is equal to 909.

Find the value of y in the given triangle
Andre45 [30]

Given:

In the given triangle,

With respect to y, Perpendicular = 10 cm and Base = 8 cm

To find the value of y.

Formula

By Trigonometric Ratio we get,

tan\theta = \frac{Perpendicular}{Base}

Now,

Putting the values of perpendicular and base we get,

tan\theta = \frac{10}{8}

or, \theta = tan^{-1} (\frac{10}{8})

or, \theta = 51.34 ^\circ

Rounding off to the nearest tenth, we have;

\theta = 51.3 ^\circ

Hence,

The value of y is 51.3°.

Find the surface area of the square pyramid shown below.
Katarina [22]

Answer:

The surface area is 40

Step-by-step explanation:

It is 40 because you have to find the area of each face so you would do 3*4 which equals 12 and since there is 4 of the triangles you do 12*4 which is 48 but when it's a triangle you have to cut it in half so it would really be 24.

Then for the square on the bottom you would do 4*4 which is 16 and then you would add the totals to get 40.
