Hello!

Three nails have a mass of 3.05 g. How many moles of iron do they contain?

Data:

3 nails of iron = 3.05 g (by nail)

The atomic mass of iron is 55.845 amu, so the molar mass is:

M = 55.845 → M ≈ 56 g / mol

With a simple 3 rule:

56 g → 1 mol

3.05 g → y mol

Therefore:

\dfrac{56}{3.05} = \frac{1}{y}

56*y = 1*3.05

56y = 3.05

y = \dfrac{3.05}{56}

\boxed{y \approx 0.05446\:mol}}

Soon:

3 nails → 3*0.05446 = 0.1638 moles (answer)

Afina-wow [57]
The chance of their baby being blue is a 25% chance. There is a 50% chance that their baby will carry the trait but not have the feature. Since SpongeBob is heterozygus he carries the blue trait so his kid has a 50% chance of being blue from his genes. SpongeSusie is blue so she has a 100% of her child being blue.

Which unit conversion allows you to convert 21.0 gallons into milliliters?
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]

79470.2mL

Explanation:

Given:

  Volume = 21gallons

  problem, convert to milliliters;

  gallons to milliliters

 1 liter = 1.057 quarts

1 gallon = 4 quarts

we can simply solve this by establishing and using a conversion factor of 1 ;

   1 gallon = 4 quarts

   1.057 quarts = 1 liter

   0.001L = 1mL

21gallons x \frac{4qt}{1gal} x \frac{1 liter}{1.057qt} x \frac{1mL }{0.001L}  = 79470.2mL

we say;

From; \frac{4qt}{1gal} x \frac{1 liter}{1.057qt} x \frac{1mL }{0.001L}

1gallon = 3784.2mL

3. If an ion contains 10 electrons,<br> 12 protons, and 13 neutrons, what is<br> the ion's charge?
storchak [24]

Answer:

The charge of the ion is 2+.

Explanation:

The amount of neutrons is extra information. You just need to compare the amount of electrons to the amount of protons for the ion's charge.

The molecular weight of a gas is ________ g/mol if 3.5 g of the gas occupies 2.1 l at stp
bija089 [108]
<span>Pre-1982 definition of STP: 37 g/mol Post-1982 definition of STP: 38 g/mol This problem is somewhat ambiguous because the definition of STP changed in 1982. Prior to 1982, the definition was 273.15 K at a pressure of 1 atmosphere (101325 Pascals). Since 1982, the definition is 273.15 K at a pressure of exactly 100000 Pascals). Because of those 2 different definitions, the volume of 1 mole of gas is either 22.414 Liters (pre 1982 definition), or 22.71098 liters (post 1982 definition). And finally, there's entirely too many text books out there that still use the 35 year obsolete definition. So let's solve this problem using both definitions and you need to pick the correct answer for the text book you're using. First, determine how many moles of gas you have. Just simply divide the volume you have by the molar volume. Pre-1982: 2.1 / 22.414 = 0.093691443 moles Post-1982: 2.1 / 22.71098 = 0.092466287 moles Now determine the molar mass. Simply divide the mass by the moles. So Pre-1982: 3.5 g / 0.093691443 moles = 37.35666667 g/mol Post-1982: 3.5 g / 0.092466287 moles = 37.85163333 g/mol Finally, round to 2 significant figures. So Pre-1982: 37 g/mol Post-1982: 38 g/mol</span>
