Answer:

(x+11)^2 = (x+3)^2 +16^2

And if we solve this equation for x we got:

x^2 +22x +121 = x^2 +6x +9 +256

We can cancel x^2 in both sides and we have this:

22x -6x= 256+9-121 =144

And then we got:

16 x= 144

x =\frac{144}{16}= 9

And then the length of the sides are 9+11= 20 m for the hypothenuse, 16 for the adjacent side and 9+3 = 12m for the last side.

Lenght of the smaller unknown side: 12m

Lenght of the larger unknown side: 20m

Step-by-step explanation:

For this case we have a right triangle and we can use the Pythagoras Theorem and using the info given by the triangle we can set up the following equation:

(x+11)^2 = (x+3)^2 +16^2

And if we solve this equation for x we got:

x^2 +22x +121 = x^2 +6x +9 +256

We can cancel x^2 in both sides and we have this:

22x -6x= 256+9-121 =144

And then we got:

16 x= 144

x =\frac{144}{16}= 9

And then the length of the sides are 9+11= 20 m for the hypothenuse, 16 for the adjacent side and 9+3 = 12m for the last side side.

Lenght of the smaller unknown side: 12m

Lenght of the larger unknown side: 20m

Alecsey [184]

Answer:

Quantity of soap left after Juan washes 8 regular loads and 5 heavy loads of laundry =12.9 pounds.

Step-by-step explanation:

Number of scoop of soap used to wash a regular load of laundry = One 0.15 pound scoop

Number of scoops of soap used to wash heavy work clothes = Two 0.15 pound scoops

As Juan washes 8 regular loads and 5 heavy loads of laundry,

Total quantity of soap used = 8(0.15)+5(2)(0.15)=1.2+1.5=2.7 pounds

As a box of laundry soap weighed 15.6 pounds,

quantity of soap left after Juan washes 8 regular loads and 5 heavy loads of laundry =15.6-2.7=12.9 pounds.

The graph below shows the value of Edna's profits f(t), in dollars, after t months:
umka21 [38]
Since we know that the graph of our quadratic function has x-intercepts at (6,0) and (18,0), x=6 and x=18 are the zeroes of our quadratic. To find our quadratic we are going to factor each zero backwards and multiply them:
x=6
x-6=0
x=18
x-18=0

(x-6)(x-18)=x^{2}-6x-18x+108
=x^{2}-24x+108

Now that we have our quadratic function, we are going to use the average formula: m= \frac{f(9)-f(3)}{9-3}
where
f(9) is the function evaluated at  the <span>9th month
</span>f(3) is the function evaluated at the 3rd month

m= \frac{f(9)-f(3)}{9-3}
m= \frac{[9^{2}-24(9)+108]-[3^{2}-24(3)+108]}{9-3}
m= \frac{-27-45}{6}
m= \frac{-72}{6}
m=-12

We can conclude that the closest approximate average rate of change for Edna's profits from the 3rd month to the 9th month is: <span>B. −11.63 dollars per month.</span>

Can someone pls help me with this?! I’m stumped lol
forsale [732]

Answer:

  • $3.50
  • 24

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph shows you the value stored on the card dropped by $14 when Gina rented 4 videos. Thus the cost of each one is ...

... $14/4 = $3.50

Gina now has $84 on the card, so can rent an additional ...

... $84/$3.50 = 24 . . . . videos

_____

Division is a way to do "repeated subtraction." That is, if we were to subtract $3.50 from $84 repeatedly, we would find we could do it 24 times.
