From a window that is 20 m from the ground a stone with a speed of 10m / s is thrown vertically upwards. Calculate:

Physics

a)

consider the motion in upward direction as positive and down direction as negative

Y₀ = initial position of the stone = 20 m

v₀ = initial velocity of the stone = 10 m/s

a = acceleration = - 9.8 m/s²

Y = final position of the stone when it reach the maximum height

v = final velocity at the maximum height = 0 m/s

t = time taken to reach the maximum height

Using the equation

v² = v₀² + 2 a (Y - Y₀)

0² = 10² + 2 (- 9.8) (Y - 20)

Y = 25.1 m

also using the equation

v = v₀ + a t

inserting the values

0 = 10 + (- 9.8) t

t = 1.02 sec

b)

consider the motion in upward direction as positive and down direction as negative

Y₀ = initial position of the stone = 20 m

v₀ = initial velocity of the stone = 10 m/s

a = acceleration = - 9.8 m/s²

Y = final position of the stone when it reach the ground = 0 m

t = time taken to reach the ground

Using the equation

Y = Y₀ + v₀ t + (0.5) a t²

0 = 20 + 10 t + (0.5) (- 9.8) t²

t = 3.3 sec

Answer:

Same reading.

Explanation:

Assume that after the string breaks the ball falls through the liquid with constant speed. If the mass of the bucket and the liquid is 1.20 kg, and the mass of the ball is 0.150 kg,

A.) Before the string break, the total weight = weight of the can + weight of the water.

According to Archimedes' Principle which state that: “A body immersed in a liquid loses weight by an amount equal to the weight of the liquid displaced.” Archimedes principle also states that: “When a body is immersed in a liquid, an upward thrust, equal to the weight of the liquid displaced, acts on it

B.) After the string break.

The scale will have the same reading as before the string break.

A certain spring exerts a nonlinear force given by F(x) = −60x − 18x2 , where x is in meters and F is in newtons. A 0.90-kg bloc
tia_tia [17]

Answer:

a)  W = 6.75 J and b) v = 3.87 m / s

Explanation:

a) In the problem the force is nonlinear and they ask us for work, so we must use it's definition

      W = ∫ F. dx

Bold indicates vectors.  In a spring the force is applied in the direction of movement, whereby the scalar product is reduced to the ordinary product

     W = ∫ F dx

We replace and integrate

    W = ∫ (-60 x - 18 x²) dx

    W = -60 x²/2 -18 x³/3

Let's evaluate between the integration limits, lower W = 0 for x = -0.50 m, to the upper limit W = W for x = 0 m

    W = -30 [0- (-0.50) 2] -6 [0 - (- 0.50) 3]

    W = 7.5 - 0.75

    W = 6.75 J

b)  Work is equal to the variation of kinetic energy

    W = ΔK

    W = ΔK = ½ m v² -0

    v =√ 2W/m

    v = √(2 6.75/ 0.90)

    v = 3.87 m / s

Why do stars appear so steady when viewed from the surface of moon or<br> by an astronaut in space?
Nutka1998 [239]

Answer:

Explanation:

The light from these little disks is also refracted by Earth's atmosphere, as it travels toward our eyes. That's because, in the direction of any horizon, you're looking through more atmosphere than when you look overhead. If you could see stars and planets from outer space, both would shine steadily.
