A sinusoidal function whose period is 4π, maximum value is 6, and minimum value is -2 has a y intercept of 6. What is the equati
IRINA_888 [86]

Equation of the function: f(x) = 4 sin (x/2) + 6.

<h3>What is sinusoidal function ?</h3>

The term sinusoidal is used to describe a curve, referred to as a sine wave or a sinusoid, that exhibits smooth, periodic oscillation. It is named based on the function y=sin(x).

Given: max value= 6, min value= -2, y-intercept= 6.

As, standard form f(x) = A sin (ωx +φ) + k,

where A is the amplitude, ω is the angular velocity with ω=2πf.

Now,

A = |6- (-2)/2|

A = |6 +2/2| = 8/2

A = 4

Also, ω:

The period of a sinusoidal is T = 1/f

so, f = 1 / T

ω = 2πf

ω = 2π ( 1/T) with T = 4π

ω = 2π (1/(4π) = 2π (2)

ω = 1/2

The y-intercept k = 6

So, equation with values A =4, ω = 1/2, k = 6, φ = 0.

f(x) = A f(x)

f(x) = A sin (ωx +φ) + k

f(x) = 4 sin (x/2) + 6.

Hence, equation of the function f(x) = 4 sin (x/2) + 6.

A farmer wants to build a rectangular garden 10ft long and 6ft wide. How many feet of fencing should he buy?
Lana71 [14]
He should buy 32 feet of fencing. I got 32 by just finding the perimeter or in other words adding 10+10+6+6 which equal 32. You would NOT do area or 10×6 because that would include that land within the fenced area and who wants 60 feet of fencing that you can't put anything in?

Good luck, hope that helped.

The base of a regular pyramid is a hexagon. The figure shows a regular hexagon with center C. An apothem is shown as a dashed se
tatuchka [14]
Answer: 294√3

Explanation:

1) The described hexagon has these featrues:
a) 6 congruent equilateral triangles whose side lengths measure 14
b) height of each triangle = apotema = a
c) the area of each triangle is base × a / 2 = 14 × a / 2 = 7a

2) a is one leg of a right triangle whose other leg is 14 / 2 = 7, and the hypotenuse is 14.

3) Then you can use Pythagorean theorem fo find a:

14² = 7² + a² ⇒ a² = 14² - 7² = 147 ⇒ a = √ 147 = 7√3

4) Therefore, the area of one triangle is: 14 × 7√3  / 2 = 49√3

5) And the area of the hexagon is 6 times that: 6 × 49√3 = 294√3

A 12-meter ladder leans against a building forming a 30° angle with the building.
KatRina [158]

Answer:

will show you two (2) ways to solve this problem.

A diagram is needed to see what is going on....

Without loss of generality (WLOG)

The wall is on the right. The ladder leans against the wall

with a POSITIVE slope, from SW to NE (quadrant 3 to quadrant 1).

The measure from the bottom of the ladder to the wall is 6.

Option 1:

The ladder, ground and wall form a right triangle.

The hypotenuse (ladder) is 14 feet.

 The bottom of the ladder is 6 feet from the wall,

  so the base of this right triangle is 6 feet.

The top of the ladder to the ground represents

the missing leg of the right triangle.

The pythagorean theorem applies, which says

 6^2 + h^2 = 14^2   where h is the height

                                 of the top of the ladder to the ground

36 + h^2 = 196

 h^2 = 196 - 36

h^2  = 160

h = sqrt(160)

   = sqrt(16 * 10)

    = sqrt(16)* sqrt(10)

    = 4*sqrt(10) <--- exact answer

    = 4 * 3.16227766016838....

     = 12.64911....

    12.65 <--- rounded to 2 digits as directed

----------------------------------------------

Option #2: using trig

With respect to the angle formed by the bottom of the

ladder with the ground

  cos T = 6/14 = 3/7

 T = inverse-cosine(3/7) = 64.623006647 degrees

 sin(64.623006647) = h/14

 h = 14*sin(64.62300647) = 12.6491106 <--- same answer

hope this helps
