Answer:

∠G = 135

EF = 12

Step-by-step explanation:

In parallelogram, adjacent angles are supplementary

∠G + ∠F = 180

7x - 5 + 3x - 15 = 180     {combine like terms}

10x - 20 = 180

        10x = 180 + 20

        10x = 200

           x = 200/10

          x = 20

∠G = 7x - 5 = 7*20 -5 = 140 - 5 = 135

In a parallelogram, opposite sides are equal.

EF = GH

3y = y +8

3y - y = 8

    2y = 8

      y = 8/2

y = 4

EF = 3y = 3*4 = 12

In a parallelogram the two angles on the same side need to equal 180 degrees. So in the picture angle F and angle G need to equal 180:

Add them together:

7x -5 + 3x-15 = 180

Simplify by combining like terms:

10x -20 = 180

Add 20 to both sides:

10x = 200

Divide both sides by 10:

X = 20

Now you know x, replace x in the angle for g and solve:

G= 7x-5 = 7(20) -5 = 140-5 = 135

G = 135 degrees.

In a parallelogram the top and bottom are the same length, so set the two to equal each other and solve for y:

3y = y + 8

Subtract y from both sides:

2y = 8

Divide both sides by 2:

Y = 4

Now replace y and solve for EF:

EF = 3y = 3(4) = 12

EF = 12

The cost of a babysitting on a cruise is 10 for the first hour, and 12 for each additional hour. If the total cost of baby Aaron
Sliva [168]

Answer:

5 hours was Aaron at the sitter

Explanation:

Cost of baby sitting for the first hour: 10

Cost of baby sitting for additional hour= 12

Total cost of babysitting= 58

Since the cost of first hour is 10

Hence the remaining cost after first hour

= 54-10

=48

Which means 1 hour is consumed in the first hour

Now to calculate the remaining hours for every additional hour

= \frac{48}{12}

=4 hours

Hence the total hour Aaron was with the sitter

= 1 hour + 4 hours

= 5 hours

What is the maximum height that a 24 foot ladder can safely reach if the base of the ladder should always be about 1 foot away f
Step2247 [10]

Answer: The maximum height it can safely reach is 23 feet (approximately)

Step-by-step explanation: First of all the ladder is 24 feet long. Then it needs to rest on a vertical support and it is recommended that for every 4 feet the ladder goes up, there should be a 1 foot safety distance between the base of the ladder and the vertical support. In other words, if the whole length of the ladder were to be placed on the vertical support, the 24-foot height must have a safety distance of,

Base = height/4

Base = 24/4

Base = 6

What this implies is that, as long as the whole length of the ladder (24 ft) is placed on the support, the safe distance from the base of the support would be 6 feet. At this rate, the maximum height that the ladder can reach is simply the vertical support itself. This results in a right angled triangle with hypotenuse 24 ft, and one side measuring 6ft. The unknown side can be derived by use of the Pythagoras theorem which states that,

AC^2 = AB^2 + BC^2

Where AC is the hypotenuse and AB and BC are the other two sides.

We can now substitute for the values as follows,

24^2 = 6^2 + BC^2

576 = 36 + BC^2

Subtract 36 from both sides of the equation

540 = BC^2

Add the square root sign to both sides of the equation

BC = 23.2379

By approximation, BC equals 23 feet.

That means the maximum height the ladder can SAFELY reach is 23 feet.

Please work out question number 12 with working and answer. I'm stuck help please.
Marianna [84]

Answer:

£40

Step-by-step explanation:

Sum the parts of the ratio 5 + 1 = 6 parts

Divide £48 by 6 to find the value of one part of the ratio

£48 ÷ 6 = £8 ← value of 1 part of the ratio

Thus the larger part of the ratio is

5 × £8 = £40
